I go to the side channel but nobody seems to be able to hear me, my microphone works fine btw

Yes, use direct to talk to people ~80 away from you. I wouldn't recommend using your mic in side chat, as people rage and servers commonly ban people for VON on side chat.

Just to add.

In my experiences most people don't answer back most of the time they shoot on sight. Maybe people just aren't as friendly as I think. lol

if they are really close then use vehicle, that way snipers a hundred meters away cant hear you.
