ARMA 2 itself before the damage alterations was quite sensible.

There are many games where you die from only a few shots to the body. Hell, in Call of Duty at least shooting people in the body with a pistol kills them quickly. Not so in DayZ. So currently it is more realistic than DayZ in bullet damage.

I never take anything seriously from someone who calls 'magazines', 'clips'

'Clip' is the proper term, although 'mag' or 'magazine' is fine. Calling them clips comes from the term 'stripper clips'

A 'magazine' is also used to term the outside housing jacketing of a cartridge, so I avoid using it as it is a sticky term when talking about guns and ammo.

Let's make it where if you take a pistol round you have to remove the bullet, make sure the wound is not infected, bandage said wound, and then rest for several days. Sound extremely fun right?

Well play that then. I disagree though there are still plenty of (and sometimes hilarious) ways that Arma 2 is very unrealistic.

I know what a stripper clip is, and a magazine isn't one, therefore, it's the wrong term.

yet bullet damage is not one of them

in ARMA 2 if you get shot you fall over and writhe in pain and cannot do crap until revived

I know what a stripper clip is, and a magazine isn't one, therefore, it's the wrong term.

it doesn't matter if you think it's wrong, because other people with basic reasoning skills know what the term means and the process of language continues to function

language is cool like that, because it is an adaptive system, not an restrictive one, otherwise we would never have invented any words whatsoever :)

but if you want to be strange and argue about it, please feel free to continue to waste your time, you will still be wrong

Clip" is not the correct term at all

love. RM40.

Edit. just to clarify, a clip would CLIP the rounds, normally about 5 of them, together, for use in say, a .303 circa WW2. Clips are not even relevant anymore.

a Magazine, houses the rounds in greater numbers, and is spring loaded to push them into the chamber upon ejection of prior round being fired and expelled.

saying a clip is the correct term, doesn't hold water anymore, as times have changed and I can't think of any guns off the top of my head that use clips. most will be magazine fed

It's simply a balancing act. Make it realistic enough to be a challenge but not so realistic that it becomes totally unenjoyable. It can still be frustrating at times, sure. But not to the point of everyone rage quitting for good after a couple of deaths. Running at a marathon sprint while carrying a .50 cal rifle, water bottle and cars parts is unrealistic too.

If you crave the ultra realism then make a further modification of the DayZ mod like people have done with DayZ+ and 2017. I'd probably play it. I think I heard the term Mountain Man Simulator 2013 somewhere around here once. But making things hyper realistic isn't easy either. You can only model reality so well in a game that can be run on a consumer level computer.

Thank you. I correct people on this all the time. Saved me the explanation.

To all you "A MAGAZINE IS NOT A CLIP" gun nuts:

When writing in technical or essay-style English, the strict definitions of 'clip' and 'magazine' are useful and distinct.

When talking in colloquialisms, slang, or on the Internet, speech is more malleable and it's up to your own rational mind to translate:

"Yo, banga! You best split fore I load this clip up in my biatch piece here an pop a cap in yo skinny ass"

Into:

"My fellow businessman, I kindly request that you quickly take leave, lest my anger at your presence provoke me into inserting this magazine of bullets into my fine hand-gun and then using it to fire said bullets in the general direction of your posterior".

This has been an Internet public service announcement. Have a nice day.

I've never understood the guys who get all bent out of shape about someone calling it a "clip". It's a silly thing to get worked up about. Everyone knows what they mean and only gun nerds care. Personally, it makes me want to continually say clip, because nerd rage is funny.
