If you pay attention when you first join the server it will tell you the name of the town you are in and when you find a map you can find it on there. You always spawn on the coast though. I'm not sure about any of the mods.Your best bet is to hop on Teamspeak or Vent and try to communicate to eachother where you are/where you're heading.That's what my friends and I do.
