How do the map's work?

Now i havn't gotten DayZ yet but today im going to get it

so anywhom im wondering if these maps are actually in the mod or if i have to download them?

You find them in game while looting.

The only map included with DayZ is Chern, as that is the Vanilla DayZ map. You'll have to download the other maps in order to play on them, and some are very good and add a little diversity to DayZ after you've been playing Chern for a while.

The easiest way to download and install these extra maps is through DayZ Commander (in fact, everything is just a million times easier with DayZ Commander, get rid of PlaywithSix immediately and get Commander).
