Decent PC getting stuttering (not low FPS)

Recommended Posts

Hello, I recently upgraded my Processor from an AMD 3.0Ghz Dual Core CPU to an AMD 4.0Ghz 8 Core Processor and also upgraded to 8 gigs of ram from 4 gigs, and I have an Nvidia GTX 460

I get great Frames on max settings and all but when im running around and zooming in and stuff I get a lot of random stuttering, not low FPS, because inbetween stuttering im getting around 40-50 frames per second...

Im just wondering what could be causing this, I was thinking it might be my Hard Drive because its not a 7200 RPM drive but Ive always been taught that Harddrive speed will only help with load times not anything like stuttering...

its also not just DayZ it seems to happen on all high end games...

any Ideas what might be causing random stuttering?

lemme know if you need any more specs or info.

I had this issue a while back, I know exactly what you mean.

I defragged my HD and reinstalled everything (pain in the ass I know).

I also let my rig cool down as when I had the issue I realised it had been on for 3 days straight.

I'm not sure which but one of these things fixed it as it's no longer an issue for me.

it may be ur hard drive thats lagging u

try using ramdisc,

it uses a bit of ur RAM to make a local drive that handles flying speeds,

put dayz mod files on it, and play dayz from there. stuttering is solved (for most cases).

other than that, u really need to optimize ur game. playing arma 2 on highest settings is rather dumb :)

i have i7 @stock 3.4ghz, gtx670 16gb ramm and i still turn those settings down as much as i can

Thanks guys, I will be sure to try the RamDisk trick, I had heard of it before but totally forgot about it! :D

PS: I dont actually play on full settings as I feel it almost hinders being able to see long distances for enemies... just wanted to see how pretty the game actually is, as i had been playing on lowest of the low settings with below 30 FPS for Months before i got my upgrades lol
