Stripping Vehicles

Recommended Posts

Hey All,

I dont know if this has been suggested already, but since I couldn't find it I'm creating this topic.

What I would like to see in DayZ (in the mod as well as the SA) is to be able to strip vehicles of their usefull parts.

For example:

you have 2 cars.

Car 1 is without wheels.

Car 2 without engine

Now what if you are able to strip the wheels of car number 2 and place them on car 1 so you have a useful car?

Since I usually find loads of crap cars I would love to see this implemented.

Since you might have problems that people strip their own vehicles so they cannot be stolen one should only be able to strip useful parts if at least 1 other part is red or not functioning at all. So if you find a perfect Helicopter you shouldnt be able to remove the Main rotor part.

Thanks for your consideration!

I love the idea. I was thinking about something along these lines yesterday actually. Maybe you'd have to rap at the part with a crowbar first for a bit, making noise or damaging the part possibly?

Also, I believe rocket is planning on implementing this sort of idea for end game content.. For instance, if your door is full of bullet holes, you can steal another door from a car, but the different color would be obvious.

What stops me from shooting some cockpit glass out and then removing the main rotor. :)

Probably excluding the Glass or Hull parts and only use the Important items (which you need to be able to fly/drive or sail) as criteria.

This is actually in Taviana. It's really useful on my part and hope it is implemented into the base mod or standalone.

It's already being implemented.

I know that there are a lot of new people joining the forums, especially now that the foundation build release is getting closer, but seriously people the dev blogs and interviews really need to be advertised more on here. The amount of ignorance in this post (and a bunch of others) is staggering.

Stop posting things that have already been suggested or are being implemented. Use the search function at the top-right of the site please. You're clogging up the forum server.

Go watch all of the youtube interviews from six months ago as well. I think it was first mentioned in one of those. Then go read the devblog. If you're interested in the game it shouldn't be that much of a chore and they're actually quite interesting to listen to and read.
