half that fps and your running with the average performance of a dual core rig. imo id say stop moaning because im lucky for 20fps but im not sure if theres any performace tweaks you can do to get 60fps in cherno for example, perhaps reducing the amount of items loading in front of you (pop up.)

your best bet would be check arma 2 forums not here

Find smoth and well reseted server. I have low fps on bad servers only or not reseted long time or/and with lot of players. Best to find dedicated server, but this is not required. I have my few favorite servers where my fps in good, on most of I have slideshow.

In the in-game Video settings:

Set the "Video Memory" option to "Default" this will ensure the game uses all the VRAM.

Make sure you do not have "Shadows" turned off as it makes performance worse. Any texture "Details" should not be set to "Very low" also as they have the same effect. The lowest you should go with these is "Low".

The biggest performance hits come from the in-game settings of "AA", "HDR" and "Post Processing" settings. If you disable "AA" it also turns off the "ATOC AA" which is BiS's own form of AA. Try normal AA on "Low" then adjust the "ATOC" and "PPAA". PPAA is a less demanding form of AA.

Make sure the "Interface and 3D Resolution" are the same settings set at the native resolution of your monitor. If playing around with the above settings gets you nowhere, try lowering them as a last resort. If you have a 1920x1080 monitor lower it to 1280x720.

Out of game settings:

Go to the "NVIDIA Control Panel" and try disabling "Ambient Occlusion" as it is another major FPS robber of ArmA.

Make sure "Anisotropic Filtering" and "AA" is set to "Application Controlled" and "AA Transparency" is "Off"

"Single Display Performance Mode" to "On" and "Power Management" to "Maximum Performance".

Try different settings for the "Texture Filtering". Lower for more FPS but not a nice as picture.

Turn "Treaded Optimization" to "Off".

FPS testing can be done from the "Single Player", "Campaign" then "Scenerios" lists and choose the "E08: Benchmark" as it is the most balanced test. You cannot have the DayZ mod running or the tests will not work correctly, so just boot into OA itself to do them. Set "Visibility" to "1000" as that is where most servers have theirs set.

If you do the above steps and get a good FPS with the benchmarks and then a low FPS online then it is the server dragging you down. It's important to stay on low ping servers as somebody with a high ping will drag everybody down.

Software:

Since you have an NVIDIA GPU your best friend in tuning is "NVIDIA Inspector". With that you have a lot more options to tweak. Type in "ArmA 2" in the "Profiles" section top left and pick "Operation Arrowhead", then click on the icon with a little man to get rid of the unwanted settings for easier tweaking.

The list is long here what you can tweak and you will just have to play around with them to find what works best for you.

I'll leave a couple of pics below with my settings if you want to try them. Just so you know I have the "Frame Rate Limiter" set in NI at 35fps because I've been playing ArmA long enough to know that high FPS's are just not possible with this game if you want eye candy. And even if I had a monster rig I would not get it.......lol. That's just the way it is with this game, major trade off's must be made. My GPU runs at about 40%-75% until it get into some heavy Pine tree and City areas where it jumps up to 100% and my fps can then drop to nearly 25. But it's still smooth to my eyes as there is not such a huge fps gap between light and heavy load. But man do I have some nice eye candy and it's actually quiet playable.....hehe
