Do I have to delete an old character?

I haven't played Dayz in about half a year, today I decided to play again. Surprisingly my character is still there, with almost all of the gear there was, including GPS, Rangerfinder, NVG etc. Since I haven't followed DayZ at all for the past few months, I do not know if anything of that got removed and if I could get banned for having it.

Now my question, do I have to/should delete him or is there no risk in playing him? And if so how should I do it?

nah, as long as you didnt hack a weapon in personally you'll be fine. Even if you did hack the weapon in the chances of getting banned are like .0000001% so just play.
