Tek (DayZ) 95 Posted March 5, 2013 As has been mentioned already, the two most important features in success (whether it's PvP or PvE) is situational awareness and patience. These are the two biggest keys that will allow you to utilize tactics, and take a high percentage shot. Just because you see someone doesn't mean you should pull the trigger. You have to quickly and accurately determine what the person is doing, what gun he has showing since that will help you decide if you should close to CQC, or if you should stay at range, like 300-400 out. If someone has an Enfield and I have an AKM, i'm going to get up close and personal with him since i'll have the advantage in a close fight. But if it's the other way around i'm going to try to stay at range since the AKM at 300+ is highly inaccurate.Your decision making based on your situational awareness is next on the list. What you do in the next few seconds/minutes can determine if you come out of the fight a victor or a loser. Or even just being able to disengage and escape. goldenrebel 2 Posted March 5, 2013 Those are some pretty good tactics. I started reading a book today about small squad tactics and most of what you mentioned can be found in there. One tactic I found in there for smoke grenades is to throw it where the enemy is positioned so that they cannot see your own advance (or escape). This would actually work in DayZ and the only problem would be your ability to throw the smoke grenade close enough to them. Another great group tactic is bounding or traveling over watch (Google it) since it reduces the chance that if someone gets fired upon not everyone will die and you can counterattack the enemy.
