Entire PC freezes

Recommended Posts

Hello, I have only recently picked DayZ up again, and this time on a high-end PC. I'm not sure of the exact specs, but I have an issue where I can play on very low settings for about 5-10 minutes, until everything just freezes and everything just stops. Can't normal shut-down, have to hard re-boot. I love DayZ and if this is a problem with my PC, I'm more than willing to wait for the stable standalone, but I would like to know how to fix this issue. I don't think it's an overheating issue, I don't have a side panel on the PC so that I can feel for the heat, not too warm. Earlier today I was playing for a good 2 hours or so in windowed mode, then bam, once again it froze. If anyone knows how to fix this, it would be GREATLY appreciated. Also I am running Windows 8 if that makes any difference.

PS. I can run Skyrim on high settings with HD texture pack installed, if that helps. Also I use Sixlauncher.

Thanks,

Jeff

You're gonna need to post either specs or the name of the computer so we can find them ourselves.

!! Having exact same issue. I use DayZCommander and was running the mod perfectly up until a few days ago. My gut feeling says latest Arma2 patch, but even reverting to older version

via DayZ commander hasn't fixed. I'm not overheating. Have tried complete reinstall of Windows 7 + Arma2 then DayZ. Same issue.

Comp will play DayZ or be in the DayZ menu from anywhere between 1 and 10 minutes, then the whole PC locks up. Can't alt+tab. It's either a blank black screen or lines down the screen with the audio

completely frozen up into a gargle. Always have to hard re-boot.

WHY?? Some kind of fix seems needed, seeing this pop up on a few forums :/

^+ - running Arma2/CO returns same result. Black screen or lined screen PC lockup... guessing there will be no fix :/ if standalone does this its gonna hurt.
