I have THREE sodas! Don't hotfix nothin!

Recommended Posts

So after getting mobbed and destroyed by a pack of zombies on a pitch black night server and losing a mid-tier equipped guy, it was time to try out a newly spawned character for the first time since the patch. Turns out the last two hours were intensely fun! I don't think a damn thing needs to be changed about the loot tables.

Sure enough, loot piles are pretty dry. Just a hell of a lot of tin cans and whiskey bottles. BUT for the first time ever, I actually used a tin can to distract a zombie. IT WORKED! OMG. I managed to find a lee enfield (with no ammo), a makarov, then an M1911, a pile of tin cans, a watch, compass, map, hatchet, knife, and matches within 20 minutes of spawning and digging around elektro. I still didn't have any food or water though. Figured I'd just play 'til I starved.

I worked my way to the first firestation in town and it didn't have any fancy weapons, but I did find a PEPSI. I've never been so overjoyed to find a drink in this game. The second firestation had an AKM with two mags, and a dead guy with an ALICE pack. Fantastic!

I hoofed it up the coast, killing/gutting/cooking a goat and a boar. Plenty of food. But my thirst meter was starting to get a very angry red, and soon enough it began blinking. Ten minutes later I started to lose blood from dehydration, so I drank my beloved pepsi. I figured this was the end. Exploring Kamyshovo and Tulga yielded nothing to drink, and I wandered to the large barn southwest of Solchniyi. On the way I twice picked up a stray zombie, which I then proceeded to lose in the forest. Tons of fun. The barn had three angry zombies inside, and I figured the possibility of something to drink outweighed the risk of attracting more zombies to the sound of a firefight, so I took them out. Sure enough, ten or so more zombies came to their demise. On all of the zombie corpses I found not one, but TWO cans of coke. I am not set for at least the next two hours.

So this is what 1.7.1 (and 1.7.1.1) has brought to the table for me so far: food and drink became extremely valuable, and finding it felt like a huge relief/reward. Also, zombies now act way more believable than they ever have before. They react believably to my movement and attempts to distract them, and they can be shaken by clever use of the gameworld. Joy. :)

Right now the best way to get food is murdering hoards of zombies. It gets me by. I do not think this is how the game should be played dont know why zombies are walking around with cans of sardines in their pockets, and in all honesty I dont think id eat ANYTHING that had been near a zombie for any amount of time.

That sounds pretty enjoyable, thanks for sharing. :) I haven't died since late last week so haven't experienced the new respawn limitations (yet).

Also, I didn't even know you could distract zombies with tin cans! That sounds pretty fun, now on my list of things to try tonight. :D

Cool food becomes rare(er)

It is non-existent, I looked everywhere for some beans.

You probably joined a recently updated server. On servers that have been updated since the release of the patch, there is no food or soda to be found.

There IS a loot bug, you just played on a new server.
