Game is a challenge again, good patch!

Well I died for the first time since the patch, and started with nothing outside of Elektra. I'm going to make this short, and sweet. It was incredibly challenging to get supplies while solo in Elektra with no kit. I had forgotten how fun a real zombie threat could be! Good patch, and thank-you!

I only found the Zombies a threat when they ran through stairs and were attacking me with their mullet. Other than that they are easy to lose as in the previous patch.

Finally a thread about the patch that isn't whiny or blaming somebody. Beans for seeing the difference between a good challenge and an overly-hard patch, while most people cannot.

I like it too finally shut people up saying that zombies are anoying but now they moan saying thay are OP lol they will never win :(

i am extremely happy with this patch its not supposed to be kill other survivors its supposed to mostly about zombies and ppl are like well the get in my way cause they are harder now, i mean like really?

funny thing first time i died from patch is when my teamate shot me through a cars glass not even a zed killed me :D

I liked the patch, but reverted back to 1.7.4.4 as I was fed up with the wrong DayZ_Code error popping up even though the title of the server is the newest :-(

Its the first time since DayZ ive had to roll back to a pre build, but at least I can play now without the frustration ;-)

I don't get it... I don't feel any added difficulty.

The only real challenge with the Zombies what I noticed was there hearing distance was fixed, other than that they were just as easy to lose if chased etc..

And of course the combat logger would make u sit there for 30secs if u wanted to leave the server if any Zombies were within a certain range of u (Annoying).

I like the patch and how the zeds react, makes the game a challenge. Just wish they would patch some of the annoying bugs out.

Not been playing long but love the mod.

Grew some balls and decided to head on up to NW airfield for the first time yesterday :) managed to loot an M16 acog and headed back down south, came to a wall and decided to do a combat roll over it! started to jump them took of like superman and then faceplanted hard killing me instantly. definately a love-hate relationship with the game and its bugs! :(

I know what was patched... But the thread said game is a challenge again, it's not a challenge, it's still just as easy to run through a city and gear up if you avoid the tricky building. Point I was making is if you play sensibly there is no added challenge contrary to the OP's beliefs.

You need to play on a server with more than two people then, because the increased hearing, and sheer number of zombies changes the dynamic completely on a server that has players. You're probably terrible, and only interact with Zombies so I forgive you.

Zombie threat? Are you serious? Have you ever played on a server with more then thirty people, in Elektra, or Cherno?

Nobody even notices the zombies are there...what a joke. I'm sorry, and don't take this as a personal arrack, but you are either a prepube, or you are only playing on empty servers. I haven't been killed by Zeds since...can't remember...was I ever killed by Zombies?

Lol. The only new challenge is that it's tough to loot people you kill when pvping in the main cities. Zombies are only a threat because they make it easier for others to locate you.

Is this some kind of ruse? Am I being tricked? The game is only a challenge because the zombie AI is unpredictable. Sometimes you get zombie-Daredevils who locate you with their sonar, then communicate your position to every zombie in the city via their zombie telepathy. Other times they're so stupid they lose track of chasing you through an open field in broad daylight.

I have to agree with this. Having played for some hours since the release of the new patch I can honestly say that the Zombies are even less of a threat now than pre-patch. While it is true that it is slightly easier to aggro zombies this is hugely offset by the fact that they just lose interest again after a few feet. As somebody who was never stupid enough to fire a gun in a city (so as not to give away my position to other players) I find the current zombie AI to be laughable. At least pre-patch there was the worry that the huge zombie train that trailed people in cities could give away your location to hidden enemies, now it is only necessary to vault a fence or slightly break line of sight and they go back to whatever they were doing.

I have to wonder at the people who think this change was a good thing and the more I think about it the more I realise that the only benefits are to those risk-averse types who did not like being shot at in built up areas. The increased zombie aggro does, I imagine, make it a little harder to just fire on sight than it was before but this only actually plays into the hands of the hill sniper types. I think as time goes on we will see fewer people being killed in a stand-up fire-fight in a city and more people just dropping dead from a sniper shot they never heard. Of course, the sniper shot is still likely to attract zombie aggro but with how easy it now is to drop that aggro I can't see it worrying the AS.50 brigade.

I was really looking forward to the additional challenge that this new patch was supposed to provide but so far that challenge has simply failed to materialise.
