R1ckyBobby 0 Posted February 15, 2013 I'm fairly new to the game, and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to restore my blood without a friend to administer a transfusion. From everything I've read, consuming food, especially cooked meat, is supposed to increase my blood level by detectible amounts. Most of the time when I consume cooked meat, I am unable to observe a noticable increase my blood level. Last night I was almost to the point of passing out. I ate four cooked beef steaks -- the first one didn't seem to affect my blood level, the second increased it to about 20%, while the 3rd and 4th seemed to have no effect. I tried again this morning (thinking there might be a cooldown timer on food) and ingested 3 cooked mutton steaks one after the other, but my blood level is still is staying at 20%.Either the food to blood mapping is glitched or nerfed on the server I play on or I'm missing some core concept in the way the blood restoration is supposed to work. I'm playing on a 1.7.5.1 private hive server, but I seem to recall this happening on a public hive server in the past as well.I usually play with a friend, so blood transfusions are not outside the realm of possibility, however, it seems I should be able to survive in the woods once I can cook meet. Am I missing something here?
Raider (DayZ) 47 Posted February 15, 2013 I heard in the new update you heal over-time when you eat food.
Calcunonn 3 Posted February 15, 2013 Don't exactly like the way they're going with this, hopefully the standalone won't be like how the mod currently is.
R1ckyBobby 0 Posted February 15, 2013 Well, after reading the following post on this same forum:http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/123124-cant-get-blood-back-from-food/I think that I understand part of the problem. I guess that I just assumed a few steaks would fill the blood meter. Looks like it takes around 8 rabbit, 20 beef, or 30 of anything else to go from empty to full. That's pretty significant. Would probably take an evening or more of playtime to get that much meat (and put me at risk out in the open fields). Risk loosing 3 or more days worth of playing trying to get to a hospital for bloodbags.Given the extreme difficulty of this game, it doesn't surprise me -- again only adds to the immersion and makes me even more cautious. I've gotten spoiled by every other game out there in which everything is 100x easier. This game can fustrate and excite at the same time. Can't wait to see everything that the standalone will have in-store for us.
Sula 1205 Posted February 16, 2013 Realism and suffering and hardship are all part of the fun. Apparently. <_<
joanjett (DayZ) 31 Posted February 16, 2013 I think the new changes are encouraging teaming up. I'm usually out on my own and I've had a LOT of difficulty with the changes. Where it used to be you could pull up and fill a jerry can and a car with out a zombie noticing - even on the recruit game the z's are out in full force and it puts us loner types at a real disadvantage. My advice to you would be to get the bbq going - eat a ton of food and then find some folks that you can deal with enough to team with.good luck!
herrjon 478 Posted February 16, 2013 They just changed the numbers, you need a lot more cow to get healed back up. Rabbits however, rabbits are wonderful to eat.
