Positive thread...

... this forum needs one.

Regardless of all the bugs, I like what Rocket is doing, and that he is testing things, it'll eventually make the game better after we see what is working and what is not.

I had however hoped he would've made a beta of the alpha (lol), with say 5 servers for players to test who can't wait for the new patch, that way if a patch "fails" people can downgrade easily and play on the non beta-of-alpha servers and report bugs with the new patch.

My feedback; so far 1.7.1.1 has been pretty good, and I've been managing, though it is a little too hard.

To make it less hard but not too easy either, the following could be done:

Right now you spawn with a flashlight, a bandage and painkillers: I think next to that a soda can could be added, so you can drink once but not refill (you'd have to find a waterbottle), and next to that a morphine in your backpack, because breaking your leg by accident in the beginning (e.g crawling through a door), is pretty messed up :P

I think that should be a nice balance between the current patch, and the old one, so it's not too easy anymore but not too hard either.

About extremely dark nights: I think (if possible) the moon could always be "on", so it's not too dark but not too light either.

Let me know what you guys think, give some feedback, hopefully Rocket will read, cause I think he could use some real feedback right now.

I like this thread so i'll keep things positive. So here are suggestions from my end.

Adjusting nights. This has been brought up time and time again but mostly in the form of crying and complaining. Instead here are a few possibly useful suggestions.

Moon cycles - helps vary the lighting conditions of night. This way every night isn't pitch black.

Ambient player glow - Perhaps having a super dull chemlight that doesnt take an inventory slot. By super dull maybe half the brightness of the blue chemlights this way players can at very least navigate 1-2 feet infront of them. I'm no expert at how arma's engine works but i can see it being possible to make said item render only for the player and not others.

Animation change - As of right now flash lights are fairly useless unless your walking slow or standing still. Having seen the implementation of new mocaped animations why not adjust running animations so you can attempt to face your flashlight foward at all times. Perhaps the same for two handed weapons with lights attached. Non sprint running should have you attempt to keep your flashlight ahead of you and not at the ground.

Melee weapons - it would be nice to have some sort of option to defend against zombies other then a very loud gun. Perhaps give melee weapons durability to prevent them from being used constantly and only.

Just a few suggestions for now.
