DayZ Version in Server Description

Recommended Posts

Please stop claiming in the server description that you are running a version you're not. If you say you're running 1.7.1.1, then run it. Don't run 1.7.1. I know the proper thing to do it just server hop but when it happens 3 to 5 times in a row, it's a bit ridiculous. Not that having servers running tens of different versions and not having a proper version filter isn't bad enough... this just compacts the problem 10 fold and is infuriating. For the sake of this mod and the players, please be consistent with the versions in server descriptions. And please educate yourself on the install process so that you are sure you are running the right files. The success of this mod depends on the servers because without you guys hosting, no one plays.

I also especially like the servers who label themselves as "latest version" and then aren't...

I'll admit I updated my servers once and forgot to update the configs with the latest version in the server name. It sucked because I had to take them down again just to change a number. For the most part my servers(US30,US31,US32) are always accurate on the beta version and dayz version.

I still don't understand why people would advertise as running one version, then be running on an older one unless it's a genuine cock up.

Hi there,

Can only agree with Alfie's and others comments above. I'm still running with 1.7.0 and the latest beta patch but keep trying to join servers that say they're running 1.7 or 1.7.0 and find that they aren't! I've been server hopping since the update to 1.7.1 trying to find servers to play on, only to find the version descriptions are inaccurate...

On the other hand, thanks to everybody that does run servers, it can't be easy to please everyone and must be pretty thankless,. But without you, none of us would be able to test this great mod.

A lot of us that run servers through 3rd party providers get updates automatically. My server was updated to .2 whilst I was tucked up in bed and so I had to change the name this morning when I spotted it.

With such quick updates, hosts are playing catch up all the time.

Anyway, there is a solution to your woes; use six launcher. It allows you to see the server list before joining and when you click on a server it gives you the option to view the ACTUAL versions of OA and Dayz and automatically upgrade / downgrade to the correct version prior to joining. It even allows you to run through steam with the overlay!

Hi trucksandtrains,

Thanks for the helpful suggestion. I was aware that six launcher is often referred to re. updating, but was unaware of the extra information available re. which server version is being run...

I'll give it a try and see what happens.
