Alexspeed (DayZ) 0 Posted June 18, 2012 Hello there, i am fairly new, getting to know the game and all, its awesome and i am having fun with it =)I found answers on most things so far, but i didnt find a good explanation about how the storage system works. Its like if it is the hardest part of the game, really unintuitive to say the least.Maybe someone could explain how that works for me?Especailly those questions: - When you find a dead player, is there a way to access (or take) his backpack? I seem to only be able to get into his inventory?- When you have a friend running with you, how would you go about exchanging items? Dropping them on the ground, or is there a tradescreen or something?- Dead Bodies, players or zombies, can they be used for storage? How long till they despawn?- Are there any loot containers where you can store anything? I know there are Tents, but i havent seen one yet and i am not sure how to get one, are they rare? Any other containers you can store stuff in safely?- Are there plans to inchrease inventory or backpack space? Because its really, really not enough... that fricking lamp is taking up more than half of my backpack? REALLY?Any help would be appreciated, thx for reading and stay alive out there =)

chrispow 3 Posted June 18, 2012 - When you find a dead player, is there a way to access (or take) his backpack? I seem to only be able to get into his inventory?Go into the Gear option of the dead player. At the very bottom you should be able to see his backpack with the left and right arrows available. Right arrow to take. - When you have a friend running with you, how would you go about exchanging items? Dropping them on the ground, or is there a tradescreen or something? If there is room in one of your backpacks, the best choice is for the person number one to walk up behind person number two and use the scroll wheel menu (scroll wheel, left click use) to open the backpack. From there, you can then take and drop items. On the top left of the inventory screen you can see the available slots whenever a backpack is open. For example 0/8 means the backpack is full, 8/8 empty.- Dead Bodies, players or zombies, can they be used for storage? How long till they despawn?I don't know the time, but I've seen them despawn. It isn't safe to do.- Are there any loot containers where you can store anything? I know there are Tents, but i havent seen one yet and i am not sure how to get one, are they rare? Any other containers you can store stuff in safely?Vehicles and tents. Remember to walk up to your vehicle or tent and press "Save Vehicle" or "Save Tent" whenever you have moved it or made any change.- Are there plans to inchrease inventory or backpack space? Because its really, really not enough... that fricking lamp is taking up more than half of my backpack? REALLY?There are a couple of backpacks in the mod. You probably have the 8 slot coyote patrol pack. I've seen 12, 16, 20 and 24 slot. A flashlight/pistol takes up 5 slots. A rifle takes up 10 slots.

Yeah, you just shot your friend.Take that for what it is :P

ThirdHorseman 18 Posted June 18, 2012 Also don't forget that the moment you spawn you should pop your flashlight out of your backpack and put it into the pistol slot. It's not like you have a pistol anyway! That will free up all those slots in your backpack...at least until you find a pistol and need to choose what to keep! Alexspeed (DayZ) 0 Posted June 18, 2012 Thank you guys for your answers, that helped me so far! =)I guess if i want to find better backpacks or a tent i would have to look in military spawn locations or can i find that in a supermarket or a farm as well?EDIT:Just found this thread: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=14769which answered the tent question. =)
