I'm not sure you would need to implement any additional penalties other than being unable to eat 'normal' food. I hardly ever see any other players in game, and I don't have the same problem with being fired on immediately by all players I come across that I hear of.. maybe i'm just lucky.

Also, maybe lucky again, but I've never been killed on the beach after spawning. Maybe those complaining about being killed on the beach are those who loiter in the open when they should be running for the treeline as soon as they spawn? Maybe people need to change their behavior instead of something else being de-incentivized.

The only way to implement cannibalism is to considerelly low the food spawn rate.

It should be a last resource action, and would separate those who prefer to walk miles just to find a can of beans and dont act like a monster and the other ones who thinks that food is already gone, and their best chance is to hunt down and eat the "weaks".

Its a moral choice and would add an extra fear, even walking in the woods alone.

Yeah there definitely has to be a penalty for it just so its used as a last resort. Giving no blood, giving the player random shakes and other ideas are good ones.

Give cannibalism these conditions:

Food must be flashing.

You must lose health due to starvation before cannibalizing.

You need a knife.

Gives 300 health

After you've eaten one victim, real food only gives half the normal health benefits.

Actually why should there be any penalties to it?

I want to hunt some tasty tasty weaponless survivors from the coast!

Tastes like chicken!

How about if you decide to eat a human, zombies become more attracted to you until you start a new life.

Great idea. Make canned food more rare aswell. Somebody voting this thread down doesnt make this suggestion worse. Perhaps its somekind of taboo subject for all carebears out there.

I personally like the idea of cannibalism.

However, in most societies, cannibalism is considered on of, if not the most taboo of actions.

Adding cannibalism to DayZ the Alpha-version mod for Arma2 wouldn't be a problem, but Rocket aims higher, as far as I know.

A stand-alone game where players run around killing and eating eachother would not only be banned in Australia, (I think a shoelacetieing simulator would get banned for exessive laces there), but probably in quite a few other countries aswell.

I don't see a point in even testing something out if you never expect it to carry over from Alpha. I'd rather never see it, than see it for a little while with no hope of carrying over to the final product.

It would probably not be banned where I live, so I personally wouldn't mind. Developing games needs to generate revenue tho.

New Vegas has cannibalism and it wasn't banned in Aus.
