Which Taviana?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking at running Taviana, but it seems there are different versions and I'm getting a bit confused :(

I played on a server a few weeks back where you could select which P2P zones you spawned in, I quite liked that.

Any advice on the different versions? I am running Pwnoz0r's server files if that makes any difference.

There are 3 dayz versions running Taviana :

dayzland.eu is version 1.5 - Now discontinued as they are part of Origins

dayztaviana.com 2.0 - The best version :) Just a shame Martin (Taviana creator) has closed access to the map fixes because Origins is money oriented, Although there will still be a dayzaviana.com 3.0 release

Origins - A great mod put together with stolen other peoples code, These guys are purely in it for the money :(

Thanks for that, dayztaviana.com 2.0 looks the best option then? Does that have those P2P spawn zones?

Also, where do I find the server files and DB stuff for this?

TIA

Making it possible to play on different maps can only be accomplished by editing the files yourself. (mission file and server.pbo, also some config settings)

I have not come across a ready made file yet.

Also the database will have to be created by hand.

Better try make friends with guys that have already done that :)

Taviana.com V2.0 does not have a choice of spawn locations, It was the dayzland.eu V1.5 that has that option

You can get all the client side files from Dayzcommander.com :) Install it and it will keep all the client side files and patch updated

One of my admins is a DBA, so that's covered, I guess I just assumed there would be a ready made mission file somewhere!

EU is a direct ripoff of .com but tents are broken in .eu. Origins is basically .eu with more a little more stuff as others have mentioned. There is a small island with some AI on it. Good in theory bad in reality. It's lame and a couple guys can clear it out easily. It's screwed up badly too. don't log out on the island you get teleported to the middle of the sea... and no admins around to help

Origins have no admins around. None. Ever. They are non existent if you need help. Non existent on their own servers... No admins on. Non existent on their forums. Many people needing help and zero response from them.

Origins is trying to make money off the hard work of others. They take others' work change a little and spit something out. At least with .eu there was no money grab but now that martin has sold out with his map, it's all about the money. Taking the work of Rocket and others and trying to profit.

.com is legit; tents work properly and servers are all private hives and most likely have admins around.
