Jeremiah Cross 55 Posted February 8, 2013 The point is it's a game. The challenges are based on real life challenges that one might face in such a situation, but if it took you an hour to cut some firewood and cook meat nobody would play, let alone if it took six weeks for a broken bone to heal properly. RooBurger 285 Posted February 8, 2013 (edited) Nor does having to drink and eat that much. I am at this point convinced our characters aren't humans after all, we're playing aliens fighting a different race of aliens. No human being could have a metabolism that high-functioning you have to drink 10L a day and have to eat 5kg of food a day, even when running around constantly. The rule of threes is a good rule of thumb for human beings:- 3 minutes without air- 3 days without water- 3 weeks without foodIf it's meant to be in real-time, you should have symptoms of malnourishment, but not just die from not eating anytime before surviving 2 weeks (admittedly, you run around a lot).In fact, eating more than 10 times a day you should be laying on the ground, puking your guts out.Dying from dehydration can take hours. It depends on the weather and what you are doing."Ewan Louis Williamson, from Largs west of Glasgow, collapsed about four hours into a hike along a gorge in Western Australia as temperatures rose to above 40 degrees."http://www.telegraph...-Australia.html Edited February 8, 2013 by RooBurger

But it's not 40°C in Chernarus all day long, so... with all the running around and whatnot, a day is probably where it gets critical... but an hour is just ridiculous. MOS182 63 Posted February 8, 2013 Great explanation. I thought this is why there was a chance but wasn't 100% sure, you've cleared that one up. Beans for you TC.

If you make the timespan more realistic, you remove the challenge of finding food and drink, which is in a way less realistic.Because we're not playing this game 24/7, some elements have to be altered in the amount of time they take, so as to include all the challenges we might come across in a real survival situation.
