GT650M ok for ArmA 2 or DayZ?

Recommended Posts

Is that GPU ok for DayZ? I am looking for a laptop for school that can play ArmA 2 at decently.

If I am capable of:

Object Detail: Normal

Anti Aliasing: Low

View distance 2000

I am glad.

I tried to downclock my GTX670FTW but I got as low as a GTX670M I cant go lower to simulate the performance.

As a CPU I had a 3210M or 3630QM in mind. But I believe the i5 will be enough.

If Haswell iGPU is as fast as GT650M I might as well wait for haswell and buy high speed ram at 2133mhz for extra memory bandwidth.

I play DayZ on a laptop with an i7 3610QM (intel turboboost turned off, because of temperature and issue with the vbios where GPU downclocks itself when CPU uses turboboost) , GT 650M (overclocked to 900 MHz, normal speed is 835MHz while gaming) and 8GB ram at 1080p. Settings are:

- object detail on normal

- Anisotropic filtering on very high

- AA off, PPAA on very high (prefer PPAA over AA and it's a lot less demanding as well, runs alright with AA on low/normal as well but 5-10 lower fps)

- ATOC disabled

- shadows on high

- texture detail on very high

- terrain detail on very high

- post processing off

Using these setings I'm getting 40-60 fps in open fields, 30-45 fps in the woods, 25-35 fps in any of the bigger cities.
