Someone correct me if I am wrong but I think it has to do with the type of server your joining.

Private hive servers don't allow your gear to join you, when your joining onto a new one.

I think it's only on 'official' servers, that you can do this so called 'server hopping'.

It depends what kind of servers your playing on.

Public Hives, (e.g US 147) you can take your gear on any other public server. Remember, the server needs to have the country its from and a number like US 147.

To keep gear on Private Hives, you need to play on the same server as before. Private Hives don't store data onto a database like Public Hives. You need to stay on the same server to keep your gear.

Actually, private hives do store your gear in a database, but they aren't connected to other servers, so like the other guys said, you can only keep your gear from server to server if you play on official servers.
