norsk2277 3 Posted February 4, 2013 (edited) Hello! i have a problem! when i try to record with dxtory on dayz i get FPS drop sometime! its drop quit often bellow 30 FPS and i do want more! I have Western digital HDD, MSI GTX680, I7-3770k, RAM 16GB DDR3, MSI Z77 MPower. But to the question! will the FPS go higher if i take my OS and dayz + arma over to a SSD hard drive and record on the OS SSD? or record on the HDD? i have bought Samsung SSD 840 PROSeries 128GB Is that a good choice? h3retic 224 Posted February 4, 2013 (edited) just record the footage to an SSD while running arma 2 of an HDDits always better to record to an ssd if u want to have high fps and high quality, because that combination requires very high write speeds30fps@1080p is about 150-200mb/s which can only be achieved by ssd, or very good hdd Edited February 4, 2013 by h3retic
gloopsgf 35 Posted February 4, 2013 30 fps is great haha. It is still playable, 12 is when you can't play.... Try turning off v sync
h3retic 224 Posted February 4, 2013 his system should give him way more than 30 fps even when recording
norsk2277 3 Posted February 4, 2013 (edited) his system should give him way more than 30 fps even when recordingI am actual talkin about the FPS of the recording! not FPS when im playing :P i record videos and get 40-80FPS in dayz(Taviana) (sometime drops bellow 30) and in the dxtory recording i get 30 but drops quit often! im thinking about also record videos in 60fps so i can record slow motion too Edited February 4, 2013 by norsk2277

aussiestig 681 Posted February 4, 2013 What codec are you using? Codec has a big effect on how your game runs while recording.Best one's I've heard so far are the x264 codec and the Lagarith codec which is what JackFrags uses, and I now use. It's a very good quality and you don't lose many frames either.Moving dayz and arma 2 over to your SSD won't do much, but recording onto your SSD will do. Having a fast hard drive is key to recording at a high frame rate.

norsk2277 3 Posted February 22, 2013 When i run into cherno in dayz the FPS in video drops down to 24fps, is that bad? have anyone tested the PICVideo codec for dxtory?
Quaby 93 Posted February 22, 2013 Maybe using other software would help. OBS works great for me on StarCraft II and DayZ when I stream, but I turn down the quality for lag since my PC sucks. I had used dxtory before and it never cooperated with me, not a fan of it,

In mine it displays the actual FPS and recorded FPS I have mine set to 30 and it looks tops
Quaby 93 Posted February 22, 2013 Does OBS record in full HD?I'm not sure, I can't do it in HD because my PC can't handle it so I never really checked, but I think so.
