some weird errors.

Recommended Posts

so, after a week or two not playing dayz, i go to launch the game through steam. it starts up, and i try to connect to my usual server. this is when i get my first error;

you cannot play/edit this mission, it is dependant on files that have been deleted.chernarus

i've seen this before. i update both dayz and ARMA2.

same error.

i update battleeye. same error.

i do this for a while. now when i launch it says dayz anim requires something or other when i go to launch arma.

then i get the same error as before when i'm in game.

a while later it now says bad key given at startup.

i uninstall arma2 and reinstall it through steam. same errors, but now when i try to launch arma2 it says profile.something is not found? and then another error about textures and .exe not being in the same place or something.

i also cannot run arma2 CO via the batch file in the install folder, so i can't play normal arma2

i really have no idea what is going on here, any help would be great!

thanks in advance guys.

Right.

It sounds like the initial problem you had would be ArmA2 not launching in CO mode, which is STEAMs fault because they've removed it for some strange reason. And the second problems sound like they are coming from you not launching the games in the first place, it creates a default profile and installs all the necessary stuff.

What I would suggest is trying this:

1. Download and install Arma2 and Arma2: Operation Arrowhead.

2. Run Arma2 until you load into the main menu, then exit game.

3. Run Arma2: Operation Arrowhead until you load into the main menu, then exit game.

4. Download DayZCommander and install it.

5. Run DayZCommander.

6. In the top right hand corner of DayZCommander, under the Minimise, Maximise and Close sign. There are 4 Tabs. Click the " Settings " Tab.

7. Tick the boxes that say " Launch using Steam " and " Replace original Arma2OA files with Beta so Steam works " It should look something like this. ( Ignore the Additional Launch Parameters that I have ) Click Done. If your Game Directories are blank. Try restarting your computer.

8. Click the " Install / Update " Tab.

9. Under where it says " ARMA 2: 100697 " there should be a drop down box below that, make sure the one that says ( Latest ) by the side is selected and press the " Install " button. You will have to wait a while for it to download, and when it does, you get a installation box come up. Install as you would normally a patch.

10. Where it says " DAYZ: XxXxX " there should be a drop down box below that, make sure the one that says ( Latest ) by the side is selected and press the " Install " button. Once it's downloaded you will have a wait till it says " DAYZ: 1.7.4.4 (Up to date) " before doing anything else. It should look like this, but with 1.7.4.4. Click Done.

11. Click the " Servers " tab on the left hand side and look for a server you fancy playing on and double click one it.

Bravo. You should be loaded back into DayZ and ready to go.

If you want to just load into DayZ, you can go to Settings -> Launch DayZ Now.
