Can't Update to Correct Version

Hi there,

Earlier today, i was playing on my Hive server, and all was good. However, when see it on the server list now, it says it requires version 1.62.101334, and claims that i only have version 1.62. I look on the main menu, and it says i have version 1.62.100697.

Ok so after seeing this, i went to the Arma II Beta Patch site (http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php) and downloaded the version it said was required. It installed fine apparently, but when i go into the game, it still says on the main menu that my version is 1.62.100697, and i still cannot join my hive server. I even went back to the site and download the most recent beta patch (1.62.101480), but to no avail.

Please could someone help me! I always seem to encounter problems when dealing with these simple feats.

P.S. Please don't suggest getting DayZ Commander - i have tried numerous times, but it refuses to install on my computer. I have been trying for about 3 hours this afternoon.

You need to go into your arma 2 oa folder, go into expansions then delete the 'beta' folder, after that download the new version and run it, now it should be fine!

depending on your 'launch parameters', (and in either case) AFTER you run you run the beta update (choose the most recent beta patch from the BI beta website), goto ..../arma 2/expansions/beta/ and copy the arma2oe.exe from there to ..../arma 2/ and over write the file. then launch the game and you *should8 be fine. let us know.

Ok well this is quite worrying. I did what Rustledmyjimmies said first, and when that didn't work, went onto follow BelMarduk's instructions, which didn't work either. It still says that my version is 1.62.100697 on the main menu, and won't let me join. I thought that this may be because i am launching it through six launcher, so i launched the beta patch file (copied out of the beta folder) itself, and that also said that my version was 1.62.100697.

This is pretty worrying, as the file that was created when i installed the 1.62.101334 says that my version is 1.62.100697

Any other ideas?

OK scrap that last post - i did the whole process again, but this time launched with the Beta file and NOT sixlauncher, and everything worked fine and i can play again! Thanks a lot!

OK, lets try full manual launch of the game, without 6 or dayzC... open your arma 2 folder and select the arma2oe.exe and right click on it, and copy a shortcut to your desktop.

go back to your desktop and right click the new shortcut and select properties.

select the 'shortcut' tab and in 'Target' paste this... "E:\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2OA.exe" -beta=Expansion\beta;ca;Expansion\beta\Expansion mod=@DayZ -world=empty -nosplash -skipIntro

CHANGE the path inside the '' ' marks to fit where Arma2 is installed on YOUR computer (probable only change the E to a C

In the "Start In" box paste this "E:\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\" (with the " " marks) and again, change it to reflect YOUR path.

This is assuming that you copied the files over as I said in the above post.

click 'OK', then try to launch the game.

Umm. Now i have a problem with updating to beta path .. this is what i did dowloaded the 103718 version installed it went to my arma 2 oa shortcut in properties wrote "C:\Games\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2OA.exe" -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -world=empty -nosplash -skipIntro launched the game and it was 95**** build old ... what the hell. can u help me out ? i tried to delete the beta and reinstall it , but ... still the same old build .

I dont think you read the whole thread here. You need to copy the aoe2OE.exe file from the 'beta' folder the the root game folder (over writing the 'old' .exe file. When you 'manually' update, the updater doesnt copy the 'new' file over so when you launch the game it launches the 'most recent working' .exe. Follow the instructions for manual update (posted previously) and let us know how it works out.
