Arma II REINFORCEMENTS

I have Arma II REINFORCEMENTS. I have asked people if I can use that to play DayZ and they said no, you need Operation Arrowhead. But on my Start menu where all my programs are, I have a folder named Bohemia Interactive, in that folder I have another folder called Arma II Operation Arrowhead and Arma II REINFORCEMENTS. In the OA folder there is only a folder called BattlEye and Uninstall BattlEye. In the REINFORCEMENTS folder I have the launcher for the game, manuals and everything thats suposed to be there. I am not sure, do I have the OA expansion or not? If so, when I install DayZ should I choose the same folder for the OA location as I use for the game?

As far as I know Reinforcements is a standalone expansion pack for Arma2. OA is a separate SA expansion pack for Arma2. DayZ is a mod that requires files from both Arma 2 and OA to run. Without those titles you won't be able to play DayZ.

Reinforcements IS Arrowhead + The BAF and PMC DLC.

Reinforcements is just the name they gave for the bundle, the same way Arma 2 + Arrowhead together is called "Combined Operations".

What you need now is Arma 2.

Once you have that, you install Arma 2 first then Arrowhead and that becomes what is called "Combined Operations".

You could also install the free version of Arma 2 and then you'll be able to play but bear in mind you'll have lower quality texture and sound files than if you purchase the full Arma 2

Uh, ya it is, it's a standalone version that you can play without Arma 2 installed.

Reinforcements like I said is just a name they gave for the bundle because it containes the DLC available at the time.

The Arma 2 community begged Bohemia to make the DLC available on Disc.

You don't need to buy Arma 2 to play Arrowhead but you do need Arma 2 if you want to play DayZ.

No idea if the Steam versions are compatible with the disc versions or not [My guess is NO] but I may be wrong.

However, the Digital version from Bohemia's own store is 100% compatible with the disc version.

The problem is directory and install structure of Steam games that causes problems. Strongly advise buying direct fro Bohemia to save any headaches.

If you don't want to buy the full version of Arma 2, yes you can use that.

The textures are low-res though, it's gonna look pretty ugly.

If you choose the Free version, make sure you don't grab a key from Steam just in case, use the other key links.

Bad choice, you're going to have low-res textures for the characters in the game when you don't have to because you own the DLC which has the high-res textures on the Reinforcements disc.

But if thats what you want to do, buy Combined Operations. Thats Arma 2 + Arrowhead ....No PMC and BAF [Which contain the high-res player models]

unless those disc versions work with Steam you'll have to buy them again to get the high-res models.

ALSO...... If you buy from Steam your paying TWICE what you would if you bought Arma 2 from Bohemia's store and you lose the DLC

Buy Arma 2 from Bohemia = $12.90 and you enjoy high-res characters.

Buy from Steam = $24.99 and you probably won't be able to use the character models from the disc you paid for already.

Wow, I didn't know about that! You guys are telling me that all I need is Arma 2 right now, and if I buy it from Bohemia I save money, keep high-res DLC's and can install DayZ. But after reading some topics online, I'm scared of one thing, it won't work with REINFORCEMENTS and my money were wasted. Yes you guys have told me that all I need is Arma II now, but my Arma version isn't called OA or CO. It is REINFORCEMENTS and on my game cover it says nothing about OA.

Trust me, I've been playing Bohemia's games since Operation Flashpoint in 2001.

All you need is Arma 2.... Buy the digital version direct from Bohemia.

Reinforcements is Arrowhead, it's just a standalone version for people to play if they don't have or want Arma 2.

The stuff you're reading is misinformed DayZ players who don't know anything about the Arma series.

Gamestop is ok, so long as they aren't selling the Steam version, make sure you check what you're buying.

If it's a disc, even better, you get a manual.

The Bohemia store is pretty simple, you just create an account, buy the game and you get a direct download link + a Key

and you can login anytime to grab it again if you need. No silly client needed like Steam.

The Bohemia version also fits nicely on a duel-layer DVD.

jblackrupert,,, i have the disc off reinforcement and that disc have not the weapons and vehicle`s that are in arrowhead.

Like arrowhead have the mk16/17 weapons and reinforcement he xm8 serie weapons,, becose the reinforcement is a expansion pak.

By the way, I got a question. My friend doesn't have Arma II, he only got OA. But he can play DayZ, he got DayZ installed. My question is: Does the DayZ installer he uses (I don't know what DayZ installer he got) install Arma II for him or atleast the required files? If so I don't need anything more.

If your friend can play Dayz he sell not have Arma OA but Arma CO. (CO stands for combined operation, arma 2 and arma 2 operation arrowhead as one )
