I've been gone for 6+ months and I had some questions.

- From what I've read online it sounds like the bandit skin got reintroduced. Is this true?

- Is there any way to store your stuff OTHER than a tent yet? Last time I was checking on the forums, there was talk of underground storage spots, etc.

- How are the glitches/teleporting zombies/hackers now vs 6 months ago? Better/worse/about the same?

- Do people still just shoot each other on-site? I was hoping that reintroducing the bandit skin might reduce the rampant murder and shoot-on-sight that existed when I played. <---Main reason I quit playing Day Z.

- Any other major changes I should know about?

the bandit skin is still around, completely true

you still only store things in a tent, but tents are easier to place now

hackers are far less on private hives, and zombies stil teleport through walls haha

people can and probably will kos you out of paranoia

- Bandit skin is back/has always been there.

- A tent, vehicle or your backpack. Anywhere else and it will be gone at server restart.

- I can't tell the difference as far as cheaters go. Zombies on the other hand glitch way less and are easier to break LOS with. Zombies walking through walls 6 months ago happened more often than not for me, today i see one zombie out of some hundred walk through a wall.

- I shoot on sight, i like my bandit skin. I want people to engage me any chance they get. It keeps the game interesting. But there are still friendlies too, i just don't see the point. Killing zombies and farming gear only lasts you that long. Getting a vehicle is fun for a day but that too gets old fast. Fighting is the ultimate DayZ experience and i can't understand how some players can stand the boredom of running around merely "surviving".

In the last few days KoS on the servers I have been on has actually seemed to go down significantly.

I have a few more questions.

What's this I hear about "hive servers". Are those private servers? What's the benefit of those? How do I go about getting onto one of those?

I'm going to take advantage of Steam's Day Z mod integration to get back into the game this weekend, so I'm trying to educate myself after a long absence.

DayZcommander is still your best bet for ease of access to all the maps, versions and patches. There is the main public hive, but that is fairly infected with hackers and allows less admin control. Private servers are everywhere and some private server hosts like Vilayer have their own hive to transfer gear between servers.

If you want to truly avoid most hackers then you can find a private whitelisted server, but I have found plenty of open private servers have great admins that are on top of hacking and keep it at a very low level. For the most protection you go through private whitelisted servers, but if seeing a hacker once in awhile is not a huge deal you can take your chances on well run private servers.

Whitelisted server suggestion, balotabuddies.net they have Australian, US and EU servers.

Open private server suggestion, awg hive at anzuswargames. Lingor, Namalsk, and Taviana servers with extra additions like bases.
