Okay, so ALOT of servers i get FPS like really unplayable.. on 1/20 servers i get okay fps but hardly unplayable.. only like 15-20 fps.. but most i get 7-10 FPS.. which is just silly considering i have a average Rig.. i guess.

If anyone has any help they could offer me..

Specs:

Operating System: MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955

the cpu is rather weak for arma 2

thats what causes the lag

set high priority to arma2oa.exe in task manager (will give 5- maybe 10fps more) - win 7 might block that though - i used to be able to do this on vista, but not anymore on win 7 :(

ingame sets:

video memory to default

post processing to off

shadows to high or off

arma 2 distributes cpu/gpu load when u select high/med settings. this means that if u set high something, ur gpu will process it, if its below med, ur cpu will process it.

therefore, try to distribute the wordload mostly on ur gpu (by selecting high) because 550ti is not too shabby.

other than that, u can try using Ramdisk (use a bit of ur RAM to create a drive. u put ur dayz mod files on it, and it flies with speeds of up to 600mb/s - compared to what seems like a 50mb/s HDD that u have there),

also try selecting lowest options in nvidia drivers (specifically for arma 2)

this is what ppl suggest

Nvidia control panel:

Ambient Occlusion - Off

Anisotropic Filtering - Application controlled

AntiAliasing Gamma Correction - On

AntiAliasing Mode - Application controlled

AntiAliasing Setting - Application controlled

AntiAliasing Transparency - Off

Maximum Pre-Rendered Frames - 8

Multi-Display/GPU Accelaration - Single Displace Performance Mode

Power Management Mode - Prefer Maximum Performance

Texture Filtering Sample Optimization - On

Texture Filtering Negative LOD Bias - Allow

Texture Filtering Quality - High Performance

Texture Filtering Trilinear Optimization - On

Threaded Optimization - Auto

Tripple Buffering - Off

Vertical Sync - Off

u can also edit ur config files found in .../user/my documents/arma 2 oa

scroll down there and ull see what u need to change

I have a similar build as you and run at an average 40-50 fps on high settings.

Processor: AMD Athlon II X4 630

Motherboard: Gigabyte/GA-MA78LMT-S2

RAM: 8 GB

GPU: Radeon HD 4890 (1024 Mbytes)

I had the same problem, when I realized I needed to set the power settings to maximum performance.for Windows 7.

Go to control panel> Hardware and Sound > select High Performace.

If that doesn't work, sorry man. But seeing as I'm pretty sure you have a little bit better PC than me, or almost exactly the same, there is no reason it shouldn't be running the game on high settings with at least a 40 FPS.

i had a problem with fps in cities they were like 15-20, usually from 25 to 35. i tried a2 oa and it still was low fps although i heard it should work there smooth. i then tried a little, despite the things i ve read here, and - tataaa fps went to 60-80. in fact what i changed was the video memory - it was on default, like it s been told here. on "very high" it immidiately changed and went up like hell. i now play with 35-60 in cherno and about 80-100 outside big cities with good settings (very high, aa high, anisotropic f high, fxaa sharp normal, postprocess disabled.) system:

7870 2gb, i3450, 8gb ddr3 ram, ssd, z77pro3 windows7 32 bit

maybe it s because of the 32 bit system, i will check my ram today, but the system says 8gb are there. don t know, but i was so glad for this fps push, when i changed video memory to very high

default video mem uses ALL ur video memory on ur gpu

very high is only 512 mb of video memory, so if u have a 1GB video card, half of that wont be used
