zachgibson22 14 Posted January 28, 2013 I'm bore so I I'd thought I'd share this :)It's a long story with anti climate outcome...Well my my friend and I got on our server and we thought "what could we do?" We already had 2 helicopters and a heavily armed base. So I thought, why not go get the other Huey we saw earlier! We gathered all our supplies and reacted our destination. We fixed up the chopper, and got just enough fuel to fly to the gas station. And my friend asked me one last time "are you sure you'll be okayflyin this?" I said yes, although it was my first time flying a helicopter is DayZ I was sure I could fly well, as I had practiced before in editor - even the same day in the same heli. Now I was flying with an Xbox controller because I Had felt more comfortable with it. I had overlooked on control. I never assigned the ALT button for free look. So as I was landing in a tight space I could not see my rear or directly below me, I had only practiced in open areas. So long behold I descend too fast and couldn't ascend quick enough when I saw the trees. I crash and get kicked, for some script restriction? 41 I think. So I log back in and am only bleeding :) but overall I got to fly for about one minute! So until next time! If you read this thanks for listening. Please tell me about your low moments! Morriscode92 19 Posted January 28, 2013 It wasn't me that had this low moment but it was my friend.We were playing on a Celle Server, we have just been taken out by a DMR Sniper near some tents that were copied and pasted from Stary Sobor. So, my friend, grabbed our chopper and went to pick us at Celle. He picked me up no problem, but when we went to grab my other friend, he started to lag, then he got kicked for corrupt data #3. WBK 176 Posted July 4, 2013 Yeah my first (and so far only) DayZ chopper experience is pretty hopeless.Found a chopper in NEAF, fully repaired but almost empty on fuel. I found a jerry can, and refuelled it for the next 20 minutes so it had about a quarter of fuel. I hopped in, and trusted my instincts. I'd seen a few videos on how to fly, so I knew to gently increase the thrust and tilt ever so slightly forward. I made it out of the hangar ok, and I was about to get ready for some great adventures as I scrolled my mouse wheel to 'auto hover on' and accidentally selected eject. Even if I hadn't died from the fall, the heli practically landed on top of me. Most anticlimactic thing ever. It was an awesome character I had, too... LordDante 30 Posted July 4, 2013 My only experience with a chopper was rather short (one flew over my quite low, and thus scared me shitless).On the other hand, once I found on Off-Road vehicle, in an open field next to the road near Balota. It was just there. The body of its former owner was not far, he had some decent loot on him and in the pickup as well (got an M16 if I remember, 3 mags, map, compass, lots of food and drinks, even a grenade). So I hopped in, and said, okay lets head for the Airfield. Was playing lawnmower with the zeds for a few minutes (you know, run them over, back up, run them over again), and when the area was safe (or at least I thought so) I got out and headed for the control tower. There I climbed up the ladder to scout around, then climbed down, and suddenly an army zombie was there blocking the stair. He knocked me unconscious (note: I was already low on health) and I bled to death...Was pretty devastated after it, but now I just laugh when I think about it (and then cry in my pillow).
