Supporting DayZ Standalone?

Recommended Posts

Hello :)

I couldn't really find anything about this - I might not have done a good enough job but......

I got some spare-time on my hands, as my own game-making-experience is pushed back with at least a year due to studies and research.

I've been making 3D models on and off for the past 4-5 years. This has been mostly for fun and absolutely no profit.

With that said, I would like to know if you would be interested in any (3D) model work? (for free of course).

If there's any place I can read about preferred specs etc. that would be awesome.

I'm currently working on a chopper model with one of those attachment magnets, and I think that would be kind of cool to see in the game at some point. :)

EDIT: Sorry if I put it in the wrong section. ;)

Hi there,

If you really want to go into this stuff i think you should go here : https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Category:ArmA:_Modelling

DayZ is a MOD for Arma so you will actually model for Arma.

There is a special Tool suite for Arma which you will need to get your model "addons" to work in arma : https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Category:Tools

Maybe this will give you an idea how to import and making these "addons" work in Arma.

What i want to say is that i'm sure there are Arma/DayZ developers who love to get there hands on "free" new addons, which they can use to enhance the game experiance of Arma/DayZ.

I will always promote to people to start editing/developing with the OFP/Arma engine, it is a great tool for people to learn how to create 3D models and use them in the game.

Greetings,

Alphons

Maybe go straight here, this will maybe answer your specific question about what specs a 3d model need to have to be competable with Arma/DayZ.

https://community.bi..._Addon_Tutorial

NOTE: Arma 3 will be here this year, DayZ stand alone will be more based on that engine (Arma2.5), there will be NEW tools , i'm sure of that, they will only be released after the release of Arma3, Maybe we get tools for DayZ standalone, but i have really no idea of that. What i want to say is maybe there will be a "TOOL" change comming up soon.

Another very important page to bookmark is this one : http://forums.bistud...rowhead-EDITING

cant find the tool download though :) Edited by Allie
