Kashus 22 Posted June 18, 2012 1) My framerates have been really bad on at least 50% of the servers I have connected to. Especially when it is daylight. I never had FPS issues before the patch.2) If I ever find a stash of flares again, it will BLOW MY MIND. I have never lusted after a set of flares like I am right now, but all I find are crossbows, wood piles, hatchets and more wood piles. Some tin cans too.3) my lust for flares stems from the fact that at night, I can't see anything. Literally, nothing. I can see some cloudy kinda starry sky, but everything else is black. Without flares or chemlights or any kind of light, I am completely and utterly lost. Zero visibility. I could spend 30 minutes continually stuck walking into a bush and have no idea that I am not moving at all. The zombie aggro is fine with me. I can handle the rework on that front, but I gave up playing tonight because I couldn't figure out where I was at where I was going, whether I was in a field or forest or in a town, my visibility was that limited. How I would handle some of the issues.1) no idea how to fix the framerate issue. Sorry can't help here.2) If the night is truly gonna be that pitch black, then we need to be able to find light sources relatively easy. This is supposed to be hardcare gaming, but we need some way to at least see the world we are running around in. If I ever find a stash of flares again, you will never see me more fucking excited! I also think that the current loot spawns are out of whack. Items that I currently see in abundance Lee Enfeilds, Crossbows, tin cans, wood piles, hatchets, jerry cans. Stashes of food and water are very difficult to locate. Same with pistol ammo and of course, flares/chemlights.3) I think that there needs to be a happy medium between the previous version of night and the current version of night. Previous version offered almost too much visibility when I turned up gamma/brightness, but the current version is like walking through the VOID! I have not died since before the patch, so I cannot comment on how that has affected me yet. I suppose I'll find out soon enough though.:-/My two cents. Dingus (DayZ) 429 Posted June 18, 2012 I can agree that after many hours of play tonight, I couldn't find much food at all. When I started a new character, after a death, I would find all sorts of shit early. I found ALICE pack, watch, compass, axe, matches, knife, lee enfield, mak, etc.But I'm starving and can't find food. Also, on darkness, I gave up and began playing on a diff time zone server. I'd love to just hold a flare and run down the road, but I don't believe in ringing the dinner bell for zombies or players. The new darkness, immune to gamma changes, seems to be a filter placed over the game. I play on 1680x1050 and in the very tiny side of my monitor, maybe a pixel or two thick, I can see where the filter seems to start. Also regarding flashlight, it's great, but I am forced to choose between it and the eventual secondary I find, and the secondary almost always wins. Kashus 22 Posted June 18, 2012 I have not respawned since the patch, so I do not know what would be in my backpack.

Kashus 22 Posted June 18, 2012 That almost makes me contemplate killing myself. I currently have no form of producing light.I ask myself this though....I was fine before the current patch, but should I have to kill my current character so that I can continue to play the game? At least at night? I don't think Rocket intended that. I also know that he is working extremely hard, so I am happy to wait for things to get better.
Kashus 22 Posted June 18, 2012 One other issue that does not seem to make sense for me. If we start with a flash light, which I think is a good idea, wouldn't it make sense to convert it into a tool instead of an item that takes up bag space? We are able to carry a toolbox, knife, an hatchet, yet none of those take up any bag space. A flashlight on the other hand takes up 4 slots! That seems a bit much to me. Just my thoughts. Finkle 0 Posted June 20, 2012 Yeah, I don't see why you can't hold a flashlight in one hand and a gun in the other.. Not very realistic how it is now. But I suspect it has more to do with the technical aspects of having both hands up and stuff (might require overhauling player models and such).
