Which one to buy(or wait for standalone)?

Recommended Posts

I have seen some videos, some say just get the operation arrowhead(sorry forget if that's the title) and Arma 2 is free. Others suggest the full version that combines the arrowhead and other stuff, and might be needed for full HD gameplay.

Then the other question is just waiting on standalone. Not sure if that will have all the maps(like panthera or lingor island, no idea if those are made by the community) or even if my system will handle a new game. Posted my setup in the "Can i run it section". It passed the test using a progam of the same name and selecting DayZ.

Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9300 @ 2.50GHz 2.50GHz

8 GB RAM

GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+

Thanks in advance for any advice.

You can get away playing in low settings. i onced played on a 9500 temp & overclocked it to the max just to get <25 frames and i have a i5 3570k.

i only purchased OA and got free dayz and playing on full settings now (full hd) so it does not really matter and you will get all maps regardless of what package you buy.

IMO i think you should buy the alpha and play around... get use to the environment and controls or you can start fresh with the standalone coming soon.

I have about thesame specs as you do, except I have a AMD and don't know the specs of your graphicscard... Running all on max settings with no frameratedropping except when in cherno with like 30 Z's running after me.

But I'd say have patience and wait for the SA

No offence but this is awful advice.

OP - you'll be able to run on 'normal' settings and your FPS should be fine if you do a little bit of config tweaking. Using ArmA 2: Free and Arrowhead for the low res textures will probably benefit you, I'd do it that way and maybe upgrade your CPU and GPU (if possible) at some point if you want decent performance in the standalone.
