Arma 2 Restarts my Computer

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, this is more of a computer problem..need advice from the computer geniuses. I decided to dust off my 6 or 7 year old computer (which is an XP)and get it up to date(DirectX, ect ect.) Well I downloaded Arma 2 and Arma OA just fine. Same with Dayz Commander, but every time I launch the games, they restart my computer with no warning. Keep in mind I played WoW and other games on this PC no problem, I believe I even put an extra 8GB of RAM and a new graphics card in a while back. I thought it was the PSU overheating or along that line but I'd like to hear it from the experts.

7yrs old my computer would be in peaces by now ^^...

the solution that i can give you is

1)Buy new laptop 99.9%works if its a 2012 laptop or older

2) Install a driver checker see if your laptop isnt missing some drivers to run certain things

3)If steam version run it as admin?

4) Maybe google got the answer (didnt check) ^^

Appreciate it. I'm going to take a look at the PSU and clean the **** out of it, see if that gets it. Thanks again for the help!

The only times I've encountered issues with the computer restarting or going into Power Saving Mode when in game was because of over-heating issues, or PSU issues. Those are your areas of focus, definitely.

Maybe you should find out the temperature it gets under the hood - if it's anywhere between 60C-70C, then I'd (personally) say you're in danger territory for unexpected shut downs and the like.

Found out there was only 1GB of RAM in this thing....that might do it haha.

I believe 1Gb is actually the min. requirement. Probably not going to perform well though, lol.

Maybe it's time to build a desktop. :)
