Just another giant +1 in support of sticking to a vision and not settling for some lowest common denominator version of what the "community" thinks it wants.

To paraphrase what Venthos, I believe, said on reddit a few days ago: "The story of DayZ since the rise of private hives seems to be largely an attempt to mod DayZ back into ARMA, more weapons, more vehicles, more combat."

I'm glad I'm not the only person who already enjoys ARMA, but is looking for something different.
