Trying to play in the dark...

I know the flashlight button is 'L' but it is so dark that I can't even see if it's in my hand. I'll pull it out of my back pack, go back into the game, hit L but nothing happens.

I know the inventory system takes some getting used to but can someone talk me through how exactly I equip this stupid thing?

edit: tl;dr - if you don't see the flashlight in your pistol slot when you press G then it is still in your backpack

press G while NOT aiming at any loot pile

you will see a list of items you have in your inventory and a graphical representation of your inventory

double-click on your backpack to open it

now the list on left side has changed - you now see all the items in your inventory and in your backpack in the list.. the items in backpack have numbers on the left side while items in inventory have numbers on the right side

you should see the flashlight with a 1 on left

double-click on flashlight to move it to your inventory (or click the black arrow on right side)

you should now have the flashlight in the pistol slot of your inventory (and the 1 in the item list will now be on the right side)

Sincere thanks for the tutorial. It sounds exactly like what I was doing so maybe I just encountered a bug or something.
