Beta

Recommended Posts

I have the same problem.

I checked my server using the normal game browser and I could not connect as I did not meet the same version requirement. (Never mind....I was running the normal client, did not use the beta patch shortcut to launch the game.

When I open Six it lets me join regardless.....the fuk?

Download and install the beta patch. Then copy the 'beta' folder in your arma 2: OA folder to your server folder.

If you installed via steam, the path should be:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta

Your server directory should be something like:

C:\DayZ\Expansion\beta

If one of the DayZ devs set it up, it will probably be on your desktop, not the C:\ drive.

And thats it.

The above + Remember in your server.cfg to set the required build

requiredBuild = 93825; as an example (will be somewhere in your CFG probably commented out).

You also need to change your launch parameters to reflect using the beta server for DayZ. All instructions about this is available in the Server Hosters Google Group. PM Ander to get access.

So this definitely helped me apply the beta patch appropriately...but there's a problem. Side channel and global channels are supposed to be disabled with the latest game build and beta patch installed yet, of course, they're still enabled on my server. Wtf? I figured that the problem was that I didn't have the beta patch applied to the server correctly and, thanks to this thread I was just able to do that, and yet these chat channels are still available for use. How do I fix this?

Nevermind. Apparently this is an issue with my server host that is being worked on.

You probably have an old mission file.

The new mission file has the following line of code:

disableChannels[]={0,1,2,6};

This is the only change between the old and new 1.7.0 mission file, because the 'disableChannels[]' function was enabled in one of the latest Arma 2 beta patches.

If your mission file does not have this code, even having the beta will not restrict chat channels.
