Heya,

Just posting this to tell any fellas who play on "DayZ NZ Snap!" that the server's anti-cheat systems don't seem to work. Me and my mate were playing on Snap! at about 6:45ish (UTC+12) when we were coming into Elektro from the north. As we moved closer we heard As50 shots to our front and we both laughed and decided to try get the jump on this sniper. About 10m on we heard a high pitched Aussie kid call out to us " Hey Dawn Clan, hey Dawn". My friend immediately logged and I ran for a tree. From behind it I put a bullet into the Ghillied figure while my friend wildly explained that there were no Name tags on the server so how could he have possibly known our names!?. Almost simultaneously I saw what I figured to be an L85a2 in his hand, which I thought was removed from the game. As I decided i didn't really want to lose a DMR I logged as well. Just as I left I heard the lil fella say "Hey Dawn Tripper, where did your friend go".

All in all you could put this little encounter down to bad luck and paranoia, completely false and made up by a scared combat logger. I also have no evidence as Fraps was closed and I had no way of figuring out his name. ( How he figured mine Gods knows).

I hope this message reaches any players on Snap! who have had similar encounters and may put it down to bad luck... it's not.

Hey

Unfortunately, snap is monitored by very limited resources aka one admin. While Snap has kindly have allowed me to host servers with them, this is still a project I have to do during my personal time. I can pretty much reduce the hacker count to zero during the times I monitor the server but I'm not able to be there watching my computer every hour of the day. I'm curious what "anti-cheat" systems you think the server has as I don't think I actually advertise what I use nor guarantee a hack-proof server (no logical admin would).

Not sure if you had noticed 2 days ago that the server was down for a little more than 24 hours while I implemented some extra anti cheat systems. While there will still and always be hackers in dayz (unfortunately, ArmAII engine is too open), I hope that these changes will improve your dayz experience.

Just a tip as well, you can press P while someone is voice chatting with you and it will show a symbol next to the persons name. You can then report the player to gaming@snap,net.nz.

Cheers.

Hey,

It seems a lot of people (Including Me) underestimate how much effort and time is required to Hack-Proof a server (If that's Even Possible right now). When I say Anit-Cheat System I'm trying to imply on Anything that is being used to undermine the efforts of Script Kiddies and the like. Be it your vigilance or Battle Eye.

Just as an afterthought, have you considered installing new admins into your servers, perhaps some close friends or somesuch? It would be nice to know we're being watched.

Thanks for being a great host

(I'll have to come back on to check out the new changes),
