Taking Out Multiple Targets

Recommended Posts

Here's the situation. I was at NE airfield and knew of some other bandits that were heavily geared and in an adjacent town. I'm geared up with an M107 + Red dot M4 + Ghille suit but running solo since my cohorts are offline. I put out a side chat message saying "hey i could use a ride at the NE AF if anyone is around" knowing that my fellow bandits wouldn't be able to resist.

I stake a spot on the big hill underneath a pine tree overlooking the runway, hangars, and control tower. Just as expected 10 minutes later I see a car pull behind the hangars but I don't get a look at how many guys are in the UAZ. They ask "where are you we're here to pick you up". I tell them I'm in the hanger. I see two guys come around from the furthest hanger. One in a ghille suit with sniper rifle posts up just inside the hanger looking out towards my sniper hill. The other, armed with an AR of some sort, begins looking for me inside the hanger. The non-sniper never stops moving and I'm approx 650m out which will make for a very tough shot on a moving target especially since I'll prob only get 1 maybe 2 shots off before I'm spotted by the sniper.

So, I wait for non-sniper to enter the control tower and I take out the sniper with two shots (first one missed). I should have moved after first shot but I didn't (rookie mistake). After 5 minutes of scanning for more guys I hear bullets start wizzing by me. I get away but fail at my goal of eliminating all targets and getting their gear/vehicle.

So long story long, how would you have approached this situation?

Made the car undrivable as soon as they pulled up. Then lol and then either run away or attempt to take them out. Eitherway

Unfortunately they were smart enough to park the vehicle in an area that was out of view of any good sniper spots. However I do agree that positioning myself in a spot where I could see the pull up would have been best. Then I would have opened fire as soon as they slowed down.

Depends. If they go up the normal route, south, southwest or southeast, i'd position myself either southwest, northwest, or i'd loiter around the woods. Say they take the common path, south. I'd be in the treeline of northeast. They woud park in the woods, and come up. Not only do i have a strategic advantage by being in a lesser-known sniper hill, but if they leave, i can shoot them in the back. It's risky, though. If the sniper spots me, there is very little cover. I'd go NW, NE or loiter behind a sniper hill.

What I would have done, and have done in similar situations

After making the baitcall about the ride i would then measure from the middle hangar to where i will be setting up at. If i dont have Rangefinders i would quickly make a waypoint on my map to give me the distance. From there of course id sight the rifle in, and honestly i wouldnt make it any farther than 600.

Once they roll up behind the hangar and ask where im at i would take that opportunity to tell them somewhere with the best angle from my position. Now seeing as only two guys moved up on the hangar and the car didnt leave i would automatically assume there is only 2 guys. No one would wait in a stationary car parked in an area easily seen from the back. So going with what you said though i would have waited until guy #2 goes into the hangar, and would have taken my shot on guy #1 A.K.A the sniper looking for you. Once the sniper goes down the guy inside the hangar is put into a scary situation. You said that you had an M107, so he definitally heard the shot and knows what i am armed with. Left with the fact that his buddy just got shot down from somewhere to the east by an M107 he is at the disadvantage and would probably wait in the hangar to try and get a good shot off on me hoping i didnt know he was there. I would relocate to another angle, it doesnt have to be too hidden and would probably be closer, just away from where i shot the first time. From there its all about what happens next. I love taking people down with the M4 CCO, so who knows I might have put the sniper away and made it a little more personal.

At any rate though the best way to handle a gun fight whilst being outnumbered would be seperate them and kill one by one. Move as fast as possible, and always try to flank when they least expect it.
