I do think the multiple step process is annoying to log out of. However I'm pretty sure once you click abort you're out of the game, the rest of it is exiting the client.

you go into menu and click "quit" whats so long about that?.....oh....i see you're one of those dicks who want to log out very quick and get behind the player and log in again right?....or do you not understand what quit means?
