Passwording private servers - Why not?

Hi there.

I have yet to try Dayz and I'll tell you why I'm holding back, other players, not just cheaters and hackers, but also genuine survivors, I just want to kill zombies and survive, I don't want to worry about getting wasted because of a rifle I picked up.

I've played a couple of hours of Warz as a guest and I F'ing hated the other players(and the fact that it's not survival'ish enough for me)

Is there anyway, I could rent a server and lock out other players, so I can just survive and kill zombies?

I simply LOVE the idea that this game is based on and it would be perfect if I could get rid of all the other players.

You're missing the whole point of DayZ and why it's become so popular if you want to play it without other people in the game "world". Please don't use WarZ as a comparison, as most of us are aware by now that's a flawed and broken game filled with hackers and created by clueless and untrustworthy devs who's only aim was to dupe people into buying their sham of a creation.

to answer your question yes there is a way. just rent a private hive server and password it

If you pay for the server you can do what you want. I played on a locked server for a while and you WILL get tired of looting. As soon as you learn the little tricks to avoid them or that they only walk indoors, the challenge falls off greatly. There are non-PvP servers that will ban for KoS or that have very restricted ares where PvP is allowed. What you need to do is buy Arma II and look around before renting your own. If money is not really a factor then locking your own server is prolly the best road for you.

I should clarify and add if you pay for a private hive server you can do what you want. Public servers are bound by rules of conduct.
