Raven (DayZ) 3 Posted May 8, 2012 Hi thereFirst of all, OMG I love this mod, and I've been immensely enjoying myself playing it. I have a couple of suggestions on something that does taint the experience a little for me:Zombie spawns. Currently, if I'm looting a factory, or town, even though I've cleared it out, suddenly a zombie may be beside me. This kinda breaks immersion for me, and also makes it difficult to play in a way consistent with the rest of the experience. I think either: the zombie respawn time should be increased so that you have time to clear out an area, and have time to loot, and plan your next move without a zombie popping up next to you. Of course, that doesn't preclude the possibility of a zombie wandering in from elsewhere, so you still have that danger, but it's a managable and 'realistic' danger.Or: Perhaps zombies won't spawn within a certain radius of the player. Say 400m? That means, again, like above, you can go in, clear an area out, and do your stuff, but again, zombies could shamble in from nearby. This also could mean that a group could 'hold' an area, and know that threats can only come from outside. I think this should apply to item spawns too: you can't camp an area for items, you have to keep moving. With the zombie and item spawns implemented like above, it means that you move into an area, clear it out, and then it's clear until left alone after a certain period of time. I think this system would encourage more moving, but also, it means you can take refuge and assess what's going on. I personally find it frustrating to fight my into an area, then discover upon emerging that the area is just as swarming as when I arrived. Sure, the odd stray zombie I missed, or one that was wandered in, but having them respawn minutes after I've killed them is frustrating and breaks immersion.Like I said, I'm loving this mod, but I think if the radius spawn thing was implemented it could improve both immersion and gameplay. Thoughts?ps: I also think that when you log out, your character should remain in the world for 2 minutes. This stops people from logging out after attacking you preventing retaliation, and people logging out so their bodies aren't left behind. Or logging out because they are trapped and it's only a matter of time before you have them. It should be that you need to find a safeplace to log out. The zombies not spawning within 400m would assist with making this system work. 2m would be long enough if there are no zombies in the area. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
MarkoCRO (DayZ) 0 Posted May 8, 2012 I must say i don't agree with you on character remaining in world for 2 minutes or anytime longer than instant log out because there is no point of implementing that, and that "People can exploit unsaved states by disconnecting or alt+F4 before save" is fixed in 1.5.4 and I presume when you attack someone and he disconnects his body will remain until you end your attack or kill him...isn't that the case?And +1 for that, after you sweep area or village there should be safe zone of zombies for like few minutes just enough you can loot place.
