Idea - Tokens / DogTags / Logs

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have been playing DayZ for a few weeks and think it is fantastic, by far the most immersive game I have played.

Anyway, I have watched some of the old youtube clips and have enjoyed the 'debug' screen showing the number of kills / murders that you rack up. Now, this obviously doesn't add to the realism and I'm assuming that this was shy it was removed from the game (unless you play on a private server with custom info showing).

I'm not sure if this has been brought up before, but my idea goes along the lines of this -

Thanks to Dexter (and others) we know that serial killers collect 'tokens' or trophies from their kills. Now, what else could a bandit be classed as other than a 'serial killer'? So if bandits were able to take trophies from their kills in the form of dog tags or something similar a'la BF3 this would give a more realistic way of tracking your kills. The tags could stack up around your neck or something and be classed as a free slot.

Wouldn't it be fun to kill bandits and loot their bodies and see all the tokens and realise what a bad-ass you've just put out of their misery? Maybe your humanity counter could increase in amounts dependant on amount of tokens the bandit had.

Similarly, survivors and heroes could have a log book (a free slot again) or something that contains info on bandits killed and blood bags / morphine administered(or other measurable assistance given 'Stat'). Perhaps this could be readable in game, leading to more trust between players, i.e. you could scroll over backpacks and 'Read Log Book' (or 'Count Trophies') to get info on the player?

What do you guys think?
