Food shouldn't restore blood when character is not hungry.

Bloodpacks are useless now. Hatchet, knife, matches and a cow are all you need for rediculously fast healing. Given that those items are abundant (spawn rate of matches seems to be higher than before), I never considered a bloodpack quest as worthy investment.

I think if anything they should remove the blood gain from food.

It may not be easy to get all the items you need to cook some meat, but once you have them you are set for life it seems.

I want to suggest a blood regeneration mechanic over time but that would just promote hiding in the forests until you are full blood (assuming you have the food and water to do so of course).

I guess I just don't like how little blood you get from cans compared to how much you can get from hunting.

I don't see a problem with a blood regeneration scheme. It's a lot more realistic than the current system. Encouraging people to hide in the woods isn't a problem in a realistic zombie survival game -- it's exactly what they WOULD do.

Maybe cooked foods could provide a modifier to your regeneration rate, though.

Regular food: 1.0x regeneration rate

Cooked food: 2.0x regeneration rate

Blood bags would still be useful for the quick fix but anyone with beans and water could eventually reach full health (without needing to somehow shovel down 20 cans of beans).
