[NEW SERVER] Taviana 2.0 Pre-opening whitelist registration. Hosted by 116th Pz. Div.

Recommended Posts

Dear Survivors, Heros, and Bandits,

The 116 has hosted DayZ servers for the last 3 months and now feel as a group we have enough experience to host a proper whitelist server catering to high populations.

If the following information interests you please apply here: Whitelist Application (You will notice a banner to our new server on that page which is not opened as of yet, just being tested, hence the low population).

The new server will be opening within the next few days and all of those who sign up will be informed a few hours prior to launch to ensure that all players get as fair of a running start as possible.

General Server Settings

Name: - 116th - Whitelist your GUID @ 116thpanzer.com/dayz

IP: 185.2.138.60:3323

Loc=London, Diff=Veteran, Map=Taviana 2.0, Slots=50, TZ= UTC -9, 3DP=on, CH=on, NP=off, DM=on, SC=on, PW=no, WL=yes

Vehicle Change Overview from standard Tavi 2.0 map.

261 vehicles available for spawn on the server. A fraction of those will spawn with each restart until the limit is reached. We will monitor this amount and reduce it if it is deemed too many vehicles.

-Each specific vehicles maximum spawn was set manually. There are over 50 different vehicles on this map.

- Motorcycles and ATV's are more common.

- Addition of little bird, Mi-17 , and AN-2

- Less Skodas and standard sedans yet, more Volhas and Ladas.

- 2 different types of pickup trucks with 5 variations.

- New civilian ural in tan , limited MTVR (Western Eqv.).

- Military vehicles more prevalent including more than 1 Vodnik.

- Boats more common.

- More small vehicle spawns near player spawn. More vehicles on the large island including armor.

- Police cars at several police stations.

The overall goal was to make transport more available and increase the frequency of the following types of scenarios.

1. Light armor vs. light armor.

2. Air vs. Air.

3. More road blocks, check points, and vehicle ambushes.

4. Increase the chance of new spawns getting out of the initial spawn area via vehicle.

5. Greater ability for players to explore more of the map via boat and aircraft.

Rules and information regarding the 116 aka Windhund server.

1. No trash talking or foul language on the server.

2. The game mechanics rule. No one is ever kicked for being a superb player whether they choose to be a hero, bandit, or survivor.

3. No hacking is tolerated by anyone including and especially Windhund members. Hackers are banned and reported including public posting of their GUID.

4. Windhund members have a trust but verify attitude towards public players on the server. Many pubs have joined the 116, many others enjoy hunting 116 members - In either case you are most welcome.

5. Bambi killers. Windhund makes it a point of hunting bambi killers and bandits. We expect talented bandits to give us a hard challenge. That is half the fun of the game.

6. Welcome and enjoy your time on the server.

Other Information

-The plan is to run this map for 90 days with a review at 60 days.

-We will be adding content and server wide activities after a two week review. Example: News story released on our website "Major ambushed by bandits in the vicinity of XXXXX, reportedly left abondoned humvee with with his favorite weapon - a DMR".

-The 116 regularly conducts missions on the server. Sweeping areas of the Islands, rescuing survivors, setting up check points and other paramilitary activities, conducting long range recon patrols, and setting up listening posts. We conduct such operations as our mission on the island is to clear it of zeds, save survivors, and neutralize bandits. Of course, its a mission we cannot win...for many of us DayZ is our online Call of Cthulu. PUGS are welcome to join, interfere with, or ignore our missions and thats the other half of the fun.

Update:

1. Signups.

Over the last 3 days.

18 members of the 116 have signed up for the whitelist.

42 public players have signed up.

The goal is 300 on the whitelist within two weeks of launch.

2. Launch

The launch will occur anywhere from late tonight to early Monday morning. All of those that sign up prior to launch will be informed by email at least 4 hours in advance so that everyone gets a fair start at a fresh server. Signup link in OP.

3. Equipment at Spawn.

Non 116 members will receive:

1 Backpack, 2 Bandages, and a flashlight.

116 members will receive:

A custom soldier skin. 1 bandage a military flashlight, and no backpack.

An interesting scenario would be if a bandit kills a 116 member before they put on their uniform and then impersonates one of us to move behind our lines and cause mayhem.

The server will go live at 2200 CET on 21JAN2013. Please apply for whitelisting as mentioned in the OP.

Here is a bit of roleplay and admin positioned loot cache for the kickoff.

.....If you find this message it is likely you are reading the words of a dead man. I am the leader of the 116 detachment sent to secure the Islands of Taviana. 116 was placed under a joint NATO / CSTO command and transported to HMS OCEAN on station in the Baltic Sea. Shortly after arrival 3 LRRP teams were inserted on the islands to set up listening posts. Radio contact was established yet lost shortly before an infected outbreak on HMS OCEAN. 116 members were below decks and had no access to weaponry and decided to secure life boats and abandon ship. During our move towards the life rafts several explosions rocked the ship and we became split up and it is unknown how many of us managed to make it to the Islands alive, my fear is not many. This note is being written from a life raft shortly after the NE island of Taviana came into view on the horizon. Last radio contact came from outside of Kopech from the LRRP teams...after surveying the beach for survivors I will be headed there to see if any of our recon teams are still alive. If any 116 member comes across this note consider our original mission cancelled, our mission now is to survive until further orders. Good luck and godspeed. S!

GameMaster HINT! (These messages may contain clues to areas where there may be possible gear. Keep in mind since this is public there may be many going for the same gear at the same time).

Just had a good time playing on your server tonight with a buddy. Despite lower pops, it was nice to not be hacked, killed by a hacker, or see crazy stuff going down like nukes or flying buses and stuff.

Hope more people get into the whitelist and we see some higher pops.

Btw, any way we could get a slightly higher ping limit? I didn't realize this server is so far away from where I'm at, got kicked a few times, but its honestly the only good Tavi server we could find that fits what we're (my clan) looking for. If this server stays good more of us will come.

Thanks again guys!

1. @Airfell, the ping has been increased by 20%.

2. We had 15 to 16 online last night at the same time for several hours.

3. So far, the first 24 hours have been a success.

4. We received about 20 new white list applications since server start. At this rate we should be reaching 20 online at the same time during peak by the weekend.

5. Later this week we will be adding some non loot table weapons as part of the storyline. To reiterate, we always release storyline gear publicly and its documented. Admins are not allowed to use this storyline gear (unless they trade or kill someone for it and can document it). In sum, we try to do our best to ensure all players have an equal chance to get it.

For any interested, the whitelist application is in the OP of this thread.

One of our best snipers has gone rogue and he has taken with him our captains most prized possession! A golden revolver, which was given to the cap for 25 years’ service.

He has been spotted around the outskirts of Sabina wearing a gillie and sporting some sort of camo rifle. Bag him and you get to keep his stuff, including the golden revolver!

This event starts approximately 9pm GMT on Thursday 24th January and will continue to run until the rogue is taken out.

Get whitelisted ASAP!

@Mallas, sounds like a good time, looking forward to joining in for more events like this upon my return. Salut!

So far given the level of gameplay, statistically speaking, we would have had 2 hackers on our old server. Currently, we have had none on the new one, a few false positives but no one actually hacking. While we are sure at some point we will be hacked with the security we have the hackers job is much more difficult and the players are much more satisfied. Good times.

Thankyou for the ping raise, seems to have been just enough! Didn't get kicked but once last night, and it was issues on my end. Last night had a few more on the server, its looking good. My clan has decided to stay for awhile.

We all have jobs and lives and such, so our time is limited. Its nice to see as server that is so well maintained.

Our pleasure Sir! We had about a dozen apps in the last few hours that would not be your clan mates would it?

We also had a very successful event last night!

After that sniper got around 30 kills and looked to be impossible to take down, even after being flanked, shoe horned and cornered in the Sabina Library. Along came a day zero freshman, with almost no experience and got the kill shot.

Kudos to him for winning the golden revolver and other nice loots.

There will be a brand new event next Thursday, more details will follow early next week.

Nah, we've only got a few. Seems that most of our clan that used to play DayZ is too wrapped up in Planetside2, and waiting for the StandAlone before they play again.

There does seem to be another large clan playing in this server though.

This really is an interesting server though. Had some odd run-ins with people, but it honestly feels like the old days again. I have yet to die, despite close calls. Nice being on a server with good admins.

Just gotta watch out for coordinated Chopper/Vodnik teams ;P

We have been live now for 1 week. So far, we have yet to be hacked. We know its only a matter of time. We have had up to 25 players on line at the same time and have had some incredible times. Goal for next weekend is to get up to 35 online at the same time.

For example, today we had 4 applications in short succession. All of the applicants were from either Russia or the Ukraine (or used ip spoofing that is commonly used by script kiddies). Neither I nor the 116 ever wants to insult anyone based on their country of origin, creed, race, kind. However, on our old server 90% of the hackers came from one of the two aforementioned countries. I mean, of 42 hackers, 37 were from those two countries....that is a valid enough statistical sample to set policy by, in the opinion of the leadership of the 116.

Therefore, we are very careful. It turns out that two of the GUID's had appeared previously on pastebin for hacking. We have issued pro active bans on two of the GUID's and precautionary bans on the other two in an area of our forums where google should pick it up. In the hopes that others who run a private hive can also take the needed precautions.

Snipers shooting bicyclists out for a country stroll...Mi-17's Kamikazing from the air (or at least trying)...2 hour long team vs. team firefights across a whole island...custom weapon drops via a storyline...no hackers as of yet...thats us and a whole lot more.

First there was one, now there is two, and a third is on the way...seems like 3 factions are forming up. The survivors are organizing and warfighting. Good times!

UPDATE: I can't make it tonight due to unforseen circumstances (work stuff) so it will be postponed until tomorrow night, Friday 1st Feburary at approx. 10pm.

There are unconfirmed reports that a gang of bikers, sporting small arms rifles and pistols, going by the name of The Lee Enfield Gang, are harrasing the survivors around Byelov.

They seem to be targeting the weak and helpless, usually taking hostages and auctioning them off to the highest bidders.

Event Details:

There will be a reward for anyone that participates in their downfall. TBA on the evening, but it will be worth it.

This event starts approximately 8pm GMT on Thursday 31st January and will continue to run until the whole gang is taken out.

Rules:

- No Assault Rifles allowed

- No Sniper Rifles allowed

- No Machine Guns allowed (This is includeds mounted weapons!)

Just to clarify. If you want to participate in the event, you can only bring a melee weapon, revolver, bolt action rifle or a shotgun as long as it is not semi/automatic. Admins will be watching this event live and anyone caught breaking the rules will be banned for 48 hours, unless they have a damn good excuse which we will investigate on a case by case basis.

Any player participating may get back to Byelov to continue the fight, but once a biker is dead, they are out of the event.

This is about having some fun, so leave anything you are not willing to lose at home. And for anyone that thinks they can come along and gate crash, think again, our admins will see any approach and you will be dealt with accordingly.

FAQs - Ask and I will edit the list below.

Hey guys, i'm just reading first post now and i wondered if me and 2 friends of mine could have a good time on your server, as we are not hardcore player at all!

In addition, we're french so peak hours should be approx. the same, right ?

I hope it's not too late to join you, i don't know how your registration is working, but we'd love being part of it!

Hi Narnn,

Thanks for your interest! Here is an explanation of the situation and afterwards I will give some options that could interest you?

Overall Sitrep

1. There are two fairly serious paramilitary factions on the Islands. One holds the small island locked down, the other holds the northern part of the large island fairly securely.

Recently some of those "caught in the middle" felt they did not have enough access to gear because the two major teams are too organized. So, admins took some steps to alleviate that by custom spawning in vehicles in areas that were likely to be found by the independents. Well, there are always unintended consequences....a major team found them first. However, we will keep trying to increase the availability of things for independents to keep it balanced.

On the other hand, independents do have other advantages...for example, the two majors have agreed not to attack each others main bases. However, independents are welcome to. If independents have a very lean and mean playstyle, act like partisans, capture major team base gear and wreak havoc with it and on it then its possible you will do very well. If two or three guys expect they can operate safely without guards when scavenging and what not then they would be wrong. For example, we have two German players who are a team who have not died in days, they know the map and know how to move around the major forces, sometimes killing us off when the opportunity prevails other times not.

-The majors make a point of not killing bambi's and we hunt bambi killers.

-You are welcome to join a faction but the main language is English unfortunately.

-There is great opportunity for a well disciplined team to hunt the majors as any time 5 or 6 players are together at least 1 will get sloppy.

Overall, we highly welcome you to our server, but it won't be easy...then again it won't be any harder than any other server that peaks out at 30 or 35 people on the weekends. Every week our server pop just keeps on growing so its only going to get harder.

For an example of some memorable moments.

One major group deployed some listening posts around helicopter crash sites and helo spawn sites. 1 of their snipers sat waiting in a location for 5 hours. Eventually a chopper came by and it was shot down and in turn a few of the helo crew.

8 of one team found 3 of another on their island and conducted a very orchestrated search and clear over half the island to pinpoint them and wipe them out.

An independent stold a C130 and then spent 30 minutes trying to ram a helicopter ending up in the c130 crashing into the bridge.

We have had motorcycle gang, sniper, bambi butcher, and other events where custom weapons are spawned in and its told to the server all at the same time to give everyone a fair shot. Admins are not allowed to use these weapons unless they kill someone for them...therefore, for admins its in their interest to see the weapons end up in the other teams hands.

Tonight we are having a escort the VIP mission. So, we are active, well managed, and have only had 1 hacker in two weeks of uptime and they were booted before causing any harm!

That's great. You are both approved to the whitelist. Since we have two factions and independents its hard to say who does and does not KOS at the present moment. As a rule of thumb anyone south of Sabina is never a target for 116 but for independents we don't know. Careful at the Martin barracks as those are a popular farm spot and a lot of people die there.

The server should turn up just by searching for 116. Otherwise here is the ip 185.2.138.60:3323
