Ping low for a while then skyrockets in game

Recommended Posts

Thanks for any help in advance.

I have verizon fios using Bit Defender for firewall. I also have windows 7 64 bit and I downloaded the game through steam and followed the directions of how to install. Now to my problem,I join servers with my filter set to a maximum ping of 140 so every server I join will not be higher then that.however, when im in the game after awhile it starts to get really high ping and getting the red broken chain this is maybe 10-20 mins in the game. I play with friends and every time this happens I ask them if they have a yellow or broken chain on the screen and they do not.So i concluded that it's not the servers fault but rather my own.

Solutions I tried was setting DayZ Commander Max connections to 3 I also tried to play with "Launch Using Steam" and "Replace Original Arma 2" both checked and even tried unchecked.I play on multiple servers with the same problem and I join usually at around a 30-40 ping until it skyrockets in game.I have also uninstalled Commander and re-installed. All of my versions are up to date and sometimes it get so bad that my mumble will lag and say what i said with a delay and one time it even kicked me out of mumble. I also play the game to where Commander closes when I join a server.

Playing at home? In public? Wifi? Hard wired? DMZ/Open ports on router? Cable/DSL/Fiber? Firewall exceptions? Only DayZ?

Thanks for responding, I am playing at home, I am hard Wired to the router. To be honest im not sure what to do with my router and how see if DayZ is allowed through it. I have Verizon Fios Fiber Optic. I tried to allow port I believe is 21 through my Bit Defender but couldn't figure out how to do so but I did allow it through my Windows Firewall however. For your last question yes it's only with DayZ I have played many games with no problems.
