Second Character?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

this is my first post here and I hope it is in the right place. If not please feel free to change ist. Also I hope that there is no other Post with the same Topic. If it is, I couldn't find it.

So, my Question.

When I install an other map, do I get another Character or do I have the same as on Cherno? I ask because I play with a friend on Cherno and it is a lot of fun, but we don't have always have the time to play together. So I thought I could play one character on one map alone and the old one on another.

Must be easy do install and deinstall the maps with DayZ Commander.

Is this possible? Is my english to crappy? :)

1. map character

2. map another character

Or are there other solutions?

One character has a different saved game on different private hives, But that character has 1 saved game on the main Dayz hive.

So yes you have many games with one character if played on different private hives.

originally, dayz was hosted of one official hive (data storage where all the info is saved)

nevertheless, today, different servers are often linked to different hives,

and a new hive means a new character

when u play on other maps than chernarus, u will have a new character that is saved by the hive to which is connected the server u r playing on

but even for chernarus, there are many private hives

a specific map does not correspond to a specific hive

Is there no way to have a second character? Without buying a sceond copy of course.

EDIT: I don't really have a server of choice. :/

u can always play on a private hive

that will leave ur old "normal" dayz character (to which u can later come back when u join normal dayz hive servers), and instead give u a new one

How can I recognize such private Servers?

I don't want to lose my other character he made it to live 129 days killed several dozen zombies and no people. It is interesting how easy you can play it safe and without bloodshed when you have a good team of two. :D

Like I said we don't play often. 129 days but actually played... That is another question I can not really answer. :(

EDIT: At the beginning we joined with steam and the regular serverlauncher. We were happy when the server worked and we could both join.

Public Hive = Server with persistent stats and inventory across ALL servers that run on the Public Hive

Private Hive = Server that hosts its own database results for stats and inventory. These private hives differ from SERVER TO SERVER.

Say server X,Y,Z are Public Hive servers. Your weapons, items and stats will remain the same regardless of which server you choose.

Now server A,B,C are Private Hive servers. Playing on server A will only save your stats etc on server A. Going to server B will make it appear that you are "Starting over". Same thing if you went to server C.

EDIT: Granted there are Private hives that are connected like Timmy said. Condsider them to be servers Da Db Dc and they act like Public Hive servers, but only within their own Private Hive group.

I hope that helps clarify a bit.

Use the "Favorite Server" option on DayZCommander to keep tabs on your favorite servers.

You either play on empty servers all the time or you're lying, no way you survived 129 days.

After 3 months you should already know what private hives are, mostly because a good bunch of them have become private servers in the past 3 months. I request a screenshot of you logging in and showing your day count.

Like I said. We didn't play that often and even missed an update or two. Yes we play on servers with only a few players. We lost the two characters before that, because of Cheaters on full servers. The wholes Servers just dropped dead. My Buddy almost stoped playing completely.

I tried but all I got was my desktop. I pressed "Print" is that the wrong button in Arma2? I never made a screenshot in Arma 2 before. Never had to.
