Low FPS on DayZ, Help?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, just recently got DayZ and I've been playing it for a little bit but I'm finding I'm getting 15FPS max which usually drops to around 10 when I come up to a big city, making the game almost unplayable.

Had a little look online for any tweaks and everything I do just seems to reduce FPS rather than make it better. Even when I reduced the video settings of the game to 'Low' it gives me the same performance as on the 'Very High' setting?

Here's my PC Specs: Intel Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz

ASUS EAH6670 1GB DDR5

3GB RAM

Is there anything I can do to help this problem, or is my PC not good enough to run the mod? Thanks in advance.

@mZLY I've got an Asus 6670, some specs on it here: http://www.asus.com/...#specifications

@GtaSoldierBoy I'll try that thanks. :)

Be sure to use an aftermarket cooler unless you plan on frying your CPU. Take a tutorial as well just to ensure you do not do something wrong.

Wow, I misread and thought you'd listed your motherboard there... /facepalm

Your graphics card isn't hugely important in ArmA 2 (as long as it's not integrated or ridiculously low spec ofc) so I'd get a really good cooling system and OC your CPU as heavily as you can (safely), or just buy a new CPU. Also, some more RAM wouldn't hurt. I'd advise 4Gb min. for playing ArmA 2/DayZ.

I ran a Q6600 at 3GHz for 2 years using an Artic Freezer 7 Pro.

I did use a fan controller for CPU and case fans as the ASUS fan control algorithm on the P5W DH Delux never quite seemed to balance cooling and noise they way I liked.

After reading-through these three links, I was able to double my fps while in populated areas (from 15~30 in cities to 45'ish & 60 fps'ish while in the country) while using a triple core Athlon with a GT 240. (I just got my friend a copy of CO and his olde AM2+ triplecore, 2gig of DDR2 with a 9800GX2...still looks nice as Skyrim with some fps to spare ;) )

To recommend an overclock.. :rolleyes: why not recommend he put some "speed holes" in his hard drive?! :lol:
