Ratspank 0 Posted June 17, 2012 This has probably been answered before, but I couldn't find an answer anywhere.I've noticed that the hunger/thirst meters are low after being offline for a while.I'm well equipped at the moment and always bring enough food, but I still wonder if my character will starve to death if I don't play the game for a few days. Does this happen, and how quickly?
Hostile (DayZ) 0 Posted June 17, 2012 No it won't.It will just be on the edge of starvation, so you need to eat and drink very soon.
aequitas 8 Posted June 17, 2012 I noticed this myself yesterday when testing the new patch. I was going from server to server and only logging in for a minute or two before logging out to find one that worked. Once I finally found a decent server my character was dehydrated. I drank water, switched servers a minute later to join a friend, and was immediately dehydrated again. If you've recently consumed an item (food, water, bandage, etc.) and are going to disconnect or switch servers, make sure that you wait a little while before doing so. If you switch too 'quickly' you will consume the item without gaining the desired effects. I try to wait 1-3 minutes now after consuming an item just to be on the safe side. Ratspank 0 Posted June 17, 2012 On the other hand, does logging out too quickly after eating result in the game not registering that you had a meal?I logged into a server that for some reason didn't have sound, ate a cooked meat while trying to figure out the sound issue, then logged out. When I tried another server, my steak was back along with the sound. Still hungry though.

Make sure that you wait a few minutes before leaving a server if you recently used any kind of consumable (water, food, bandage, etc.) because you could end up spawning back without the item, but still thirsty/hungry/bleeding. vekien 84 Posted June 18, 2012 Your data doesnt save every single second. So when you DC, you reload to data from about 5 seconds ago.I think this was recent tho.
