XChrisUnknownX 1 Posted January 7, 2013 (edited) Note: the wall of text is representative of trying to add a fourth dimension to this already amazing gameplay (mod and future SA of Day Z). It is, in some ways, modeled after the StarCraft 2 Mafia Map style of self-policing. People interested in joining need only scroll down to the part where the laws are, agree with the laws, and then send me a message or post to this thread with your name and skype name, and I will add you to the running list. Laws are bolded for your scrolling convenience. The rest is jargon meant for people looking for the complexity behind the idea.I started playing in November 2012 after Sandy smacked my house with her big stormy ass and I play on and off. In the spirit of combating the psychological terror of this game, and becoming less of a shoot first ask later game, I think we should get together a fairly large grouping of self-proclaimed benign players across public servers, preferably in Chernarus. I tend to play with a single real life friend, and he tends to be paranoid and shoot on sight like the rest of you, but it's time to reclaim our security in the post apocalyptic world of Day Z (mod), and maybe for many of you transition into the post apocalyptic world of Day Z (SA). To this end, I say we put together an organized list of trustworthy people, and become known enough that we can safely proclaim BLaDE and people will know we're the good guys.Of course, this'll take some community policing, because there will be people who would use BLaDE as a guise to murder others, so if you're killed by someone saying BLaDE, feel free to report it here, and we'll slowly rope together a functional society in a world that has suffered a breakdown of society. Impossible? Hell yeah. Try it anyway? Hell yeah.To aid in the running list, I'll keep a skype master list, and also update this original posting with new entries so others can add others and network. Your roster number can be considered kind of like an American SS number, it's your identifier and will lend credibility to a BLaDE shout, it'll also make solving reports of murderers a little simpler. (Example: someone shouts BLaDE 1, friendly and then shoots you. I'm BLaDE 1. I didn't do it. Chances are my voice will be different than the offender, and is provable via Skype.)Over time, we'll shape a record for people who claim to be BLaDE, and hopefully turn into a benign society of VIGILANTE BANDIT HUNTERS!_______________________________________________________________________________________The following is BLaDE's information, and will be updated as the society changes.BLaDE Society: Beans, Love, and Dead Enemies. Laws of BLaDE:Definitions:Skin - OutfitSurvivor - Citizen of Day ZBandit - Murderer. (Banditry) Someone who kills unjustifiably.Thief - Robber who doesn't resort to murder. (Thievery)BLaDE - Survivors, regardless of skin, that have pledged to kill with discernment.Murderer - Someone who commits murder.Murder - Killing anyone that is not a zombie or an animal.Arbiter - one of thirteen BLaDE members who act as the primary oligarchy, no matter how large the group gets.Credit - A report that a BLaDE has done a good deed.Violation - a negative outcome where a BLaDE is found to have violated law.Unsolved - a report was made against the BLaDE, but the arbiters were undecided.Pardon - a report was made against the BLaDE, but he was found justified.Falsehood - a report was made by the BLaDE, but he was found to have intentionally lied.Preamble: In a world of kill or be killed, we'll give our fellow survivors the benefit of the doubt, but we'll never sacrifice ourselves for the benefit of a bandit or thief. The law, written in order of importance, is the only law of the land, and is written to facilitate survival and justice.Laws:1) A BLaDE will not, through action or inaction, allow himself or herself to be killed.2) A BLaDE will not, through action or inaction, kill a survivor.3) A BLaDe will not engage in Banditry or Thievery.4) A BLaDE will not initiate acts of aggression against survivors.5) A BLaDE will agree to stand trial for reported violations of law.6) A BLaDE will agree to report accidental or justifiable murders. Enforcement:1) Anyone may report that a BLaDE has killed them. Preferably with as much information as possible, including the server, their BLaDE number, place and time, etc. The report will be added to the BLaDE's roster entry as an "unsolved report."2) Upon receiving a report, an arbiter will hold a skype trial with a minimum of the accuser, accused, accuser's witness(es), if any, and a/multiple BLaDE arbiter(s).3) If there is no accused due to a lack of identifying information, the report will be kept on file by BLaDE as an "unsolved report." No trial will be held.Trial format:a) Accuser opens with a statement of what happened, their witness(es) also may confirm or add to the statement. If there is video or audio of the occurrence, that may be displayed at that time.b ) accused makes a statement confirming or denying the occurrence and order of events given.b2) Accuser, upon hearing accused's voice and story, has the option of retracting the report, issuing the accused a credit, or allowing the arbiters to discuss.c) Arbiters discuss the credibility of either side, and determine whether the incident violated BLaDE law, did not violate BLaDE law, or they cannot determine either way (synonymous with abstention.)d) If it is determined violated, the accused is issued a violation. If it is determined justified, the accused is issued a pardon. If no determination is made, it is recorded as an undecided trial.e) BLaDE members who accuse other BLaDE members who are given a pardon may be given a falsehood.f) Preferably, these should take no more than five minutes. They are simple proceedings meant to discourage misuse of the BLaDE name.Ending notes:BLaDE is open to all. In summary, we'd be a despotism looking towards an oligarchy with the option of a 2/3 override from all BLaDE members once there are more than 100 members. There will be two "statuses" for BLaDE members, trusted and traitor. Traitors are BLaDE that are found to have violated the law more than once and cannot be trusted. Everyone starts trusted, but can only be determined to be traitors via arbiters or a majority vote. Traitors can only be made trusted again through the arbiters or majority vote. Arbiters may only be appointed or replaced by majority vote of arbiters or by 2/3 majority vote of BLaDE members. The 2/3 majority vote doesn't come into effect until BLaDE has more than 100 members.___________________________________________# of Unsolved reports on file:___________________________________________Roster:Arbiters:A1) M1, ChrisA2)A3)A4)A5)A6)A7)A8)A9)A10)A11)A12)A13)Members (M):1)Name: Chris D.Skype: XChrisUnknownXSteam:XChrisUnknownXIn-game Name: ChrisComment:Credits: 0Pardons: 0Violations: 0Falsehoods: 0Self-reported murders: 0Status: Arbiter, Trusted2)Join the BLaDE society today!
