z0mbie 33 Posted May 8, 2012 I think cooking should take longer, takes about 20-30 seconds to set up a camp fire and cook 20 meats at once, would be a bit more realistic to have it take a while to cook a piece of meat, this would make people a bit more weary of where they set up their camp fire because it would be up longer potentially giving away their position.Another idea was after hitting the put out fire command, it would still smoke for a few minutes until you were able to destroy the camp fire completely.I don't know if any of this is possible, just throwing it out there. WaxMan (DayZ) 0 Posted May 8, 2012 Interesting suggestions, however with the restrictions on placing camp fires (right out in the open) that there are at the moment I would feel it was a little to much.
jetlinerx 2 Posted May 8, 2012 This brings up an interesting point, I think campfires should have a big smoke signal type things, like small pillars of smoke raising so if you do start a fire, you have to worry about who would see it.

Don't know why it's like that. This brings up an interesting point' date=' I think campfires should have a big smoke signal type things, like small pillars of smoke raising so if you do start a fire, you have to worry about who would see it.[/quote']Yeah a bit of a higher smoke signal would be cool, might attract hungry survivors that could end up joining you but could also attract some... unwanted attention... cm. (DayZ) 28 Posted May 8, 2012 Would be better if you could "place meat on fire" and walk away from it to cook it. If you return before a certain time, the meat will still be rare. After a certain time it is "cooked" and if left there for too long "burnt" i.e. garbage. That way you can have the realistic long (or not as short) cooking time without being stuck in animation for x minutes. If you get attacked and have to bail from your meat well... such is life in the zone.
