Create character takes a LONG time on my server

When I get 45-50 people on my server, which happens almost nightly, it's taking somewhere along the lines of 6-10 minutes for a character to create. Is this normal with this many people on a server? Do things get caught up and need to be restarted, or is it just taking so long because of the amount of people on? Thanks.

I have noticed this too, I wish I knew how to fix it as I have had to change servers to avoid it.

I guess you just found your server's maxPlayers value...

What is your server upload/bandwidth?

DayZ 1.7.5 has some optimizations that will fix this when it comes out, in the mean time the only thing you can do is lower the max players value.

My server is through HFB. I'll message them and see if they can do anything about it. Thanks, guys.

I think it has to do with so much being wrote to the database at once. I've noticed this a lot on heavily populated servers. Sometimes bandages, blood bags, any action item takes longer to take affect. No idea what the absolute fix is however a restart will help but for how long i don't know. Like he said the update is suppose to help with these issues.
